Why do you think there are so many proverbs related to rain in English? There are plenty of English proverbs related to rain, because there are a lot of rainy days in Britain. In these proverbs rain means something not very good, even bad.

1. Using Antonyms of words in italics change these sentences to make a proverb.

1. Rain after seven, clear after eleven

2. It always rains and it pours.

3. Spend it for a rainy day.

Let’s think about Russian proverbs related to rain? Do they mostly have positive connotation or negative? Forexample:

For Russian people rain has rather good meaning, than bad, because earlier rain meant fertility and rich harvest.

1. Now please divide into two groups. I’ll give you cards with proverbs, each of you have to make up sentences using proverb on your card, next one should continue the story of first pupil using proverb on his own card, so in the end we will have one story with proverbs.

1. Imagine that you meet your friend and you are disappointed about something.

Make up a story discussing your problem, using proverbs.
