Guess the Hobby

• The guitar is the most popular musical instrument. People around the world want to learn to play guitar.
• A lot of people collect various items: coins, stamps, cars, posters, antiques
• read the book very interesting and useful. Books increases vocabulary person, enrich his inner world, make smarter and improve memory
• Man with a camera sees the world differently, he notes that, by what others can pass indifferently. Photographer to old age retains the ability to worry and wonder, to discover new faces and colors of life as a child

Read the text. Make a list of all the people’s activites mantioned in the text.

Alexander thinks that he has too many hobbies and too little time. He wants to share his concern with his friend Peter from Poland. As Peter is coming to Moscow only in two month’s time, Alexander decides yo write him. But before writting in email, he puts his ideas in his diary:

« Nowadays it’s hard to name all the activities, entertaiments and hobbies practised by people in their free time. A growing numder of people prefer watching films,perfomance, sporting events on TV to attending them. There exist quite sorts of leisure activities which give thousands of people choose to pass their free time. Today people spend hours watching different are surfing the Internrt, playing computer games, listening to go the radio,reading books ( often ebooks!), painting and so on. Ma ny people prefer to go in for different kinds of sports and lead have a very good pastime. There are people that prefer a calm way of spending their to visit museums, art galleries or theatres.

Aerobics and shopping are two of the most popular pursuits for womem. Cooking is aslo a very widespead activity among them. But nothing can be compared to your favourite hobby. A hobby is a special interest or activity that you do in your free time. Some people have animals as hobbies. They keep rabbits, or go fishing, or train dogs to do trick. Some are crazy about plants. They try to grow cacti or tropical flowers in their kitchens and sitying rooms. Others are mad about their cars or motorbikes. They spend their Saturdays and Sundays washing them, painting them or buying new parts to make them go even faster. Many people make things as a hobby… »
