Read and translate the text British meals.

Alexander already has some ideas about typical British food. The usual meals are breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. Breakfast is generally a bigger meal than they have on the Continent, though some English people like a"continental" breakfast of rolls and butter and coffee. But the usual English breakfast is porridge or corn flakes with milk or cream and sugar, bacon and eggs, marmalade(made from oranges) with buttered toast, and tea or coffee. For a change you can have a boiled egg, cold ham perhaps fish.

They generally have lunch about one o'clock. The businessman in London usually finds it impossible to come home for lunch and so restaurant; but if they can make it home for lunch, they have cold meat(left over probably from yesterday's dinner), potatoes, salad and pickles, with a pudding or fruit to follow. Sometimes we have a mutton chop, or steak and chips, followed by biscuits and cheese, and some people like a glass of light beer with lunch.

Traditional English dishes

Pork pie.

A piece of pork in a crispy dough may not seem too appetizing, especially when you consider that there is also a piece of jelly in the filling, nevertheless this is one of the key dishes of British cuisine. Usually pies make small sizes and serve cold. However, you can eat them with hot sauce, and can be heated and served with peas or gravy.

English breakfast

For this Breakfast you should be hungry stronger. This is an impressive portion of food, which includes sausages, bacon, mushrooms, scrambled eggs or omelets, as well as fried tomatoes and beans. If you think this list is too small, you can always add a piece of blood sausage, toast with butter and fried bread.

Stamppot

It is a roast of potatoes, cabbage and onions served under a layer of baked cheese. The recipe is Scottish.

Usually it is used as a garnish to the main dish. In Ireland, for a similar dish using mashed potatoes and cabbage Cale, and in England from vegetables left over from the roast, make cutlets.

Tea

Yes, it is not a dish, but without tea it is impossible to imagine the British. It's a drink that seems appropriate at any moment. Connoisseurs of the ideal tea are sure that only the leaf is suitable for brewing, however, some British are quite willing to tea bags.

And remember, milk should be added to the mug last!
