The education system in Russia

P reschool E ducation and Primary Education

• Preprimary Education in Russia exists in the form of nursery schools and kindergartens .
• Children in Russia begin primary school at the age of six or seven and continue it for four years.

Secondary Education

Secondary Education in Russia is split into two parts

Vocational education

• Vocational Education involves the training of proficient workers on the strength of basic general education. The time span of such educational programs is 1 to 2.5 years.

The education system in the UK is also split into "key stages" which breaks down as follows

Primary Education

• Primary school education begins in the UK at age 5 and continues until age 11. From 1 to 6 grades .

Secondary Education

• Years 7 and 8 are the first two years of secondary school education in the UK.

S econdary school - year 9

• Year 9 is a very important year in the British school system, as most of the students make the transition from Junior School to Senior School.

S econdary education - years 10 and 11

• In the last two years of secondary education, which are called Year 10 and Year 11, starting at age 14, students prepare for GCSE exams that are taken after two years (General Certificate of Secondary Education).

U niversity preparation - years 12 and 13

• Classes 12 and 13 are optional. They are needed to improve the qualifications for which the student will be trained in the future.

Higher Education

• From age 17, international students can opt to study one year foundation programmes, instead of A levels or IB. These courses lead to private examinations that are an alternative to A levels. Foundation courses at colleges are recognised by universities with whom they have partnerships.

The education system in the USA

Preschool education

• These enroll children aged four and over. It was a modification of British children's schools - an idea that soon found its way into most progressive major American cities. 

• Elementary education starts at the age of five or six, depending on the particular state.
• In some districts, students attend elementary school until the age of 13 .

Primary education

Secondary school

• In most districts, students attend a combined junior/senior high school or attend a middle school until 13 (grade 8) before transferring to a four-year senior high school.

Secondary school

• The high school covers grades 9-12. Teens begin this stage at the age of 14 and graduate when they are 18. Sometimes middle and high schools are combined into one, and education lasts from grades 6-7 to 12. In this case, there are two stages: Junior High School and Senior High School.
