• Святая Елена старалась как можно больше распространить христианство. Знаменита она тем, что в Иерусалиме она осуществляла раскопки, благодаря которым под землей нашли могилу Господнюю и Животворящий Крест.

• Все люди захотели увидеть святой Крест, который совершил чудо. Тогда царица Елена и патриарх Иерусалимский Макарий воздвигли на возвышенном месте крест. И люди, видя воздвигнутый Крест Господень, молились со словами «Господи помилуй».
• В честь этого события Церковью установлен праздник Воздвижения Креста Господня, который празднуется 27 сентября. Это великий праздник. Сейчас в этот праздник на середину храма торжественно выносят крест для поклонения.
• Память святой Елены, матери римского императора Константина Великого, отмечают 19 марта и 3 июня.
