A MAGIC JOURNEY

CHARACTERS: Ann, Wizard, Francis Drake, Queen Elizabeth, Newton, James

SCENE 1 (Аня идет домой из школы)

Ann: I`m lucky today? There`s not much homework to do. Perhaps, I`ll go for a walk. Oh, my ! Famous British people of the past!!! Tomorrow`s English quiz! I wish there was a wizard like Harry Porter here to help me and…

Wizard: … and here I am. I`m a wizard.

(Аня в испуге отскакивает в сторону)

Wizard: Do you want to find yourself in Old Britain? No problem.

Ann: Are you a real wizard? Can`t believe my eyes…

Wizard: I`ll take you back to Old Britain and you`ll meet famous British peope there.

Ann: Let`s go!

Wizard: Let`s go! Forward to the past!

Звучит музыка. Волшебник садится на метлу, кружится по сцене, плащ развевается. Аня вслед за Волшебником делает круг по сцене, кружась, как будто ее уносит ветер.

SCENE 2

Пока Аня кружится, выходит Фрэнсис Дрейк в шляпе с пером, со шпагой на боку и картой мира в руке, вешает ее на стену, водит по ней указкой, что-то записывает в блокнот. Аня и Волшебник оказываются в середине сцены, останавливаются, удивленно смотрят вокруг, переглядываются.

F.Drake: What a strange child you are! I sailed all over the world and never saw such children. Where are you from?

Ann: I`m from Russia, from the Future. And who are you?

Drake: All the British know me. I`m Sir Francis Drake, Admiral of the Royal Fleet, a privateer of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth I. I was the second to go round the globe. It`s me who led the Invincible Armada of Spanish Fleet. It`s me who sacked ships and brought wealth to my Queen. Let`s go to her Palace. The Queen will be glad to see a girl from the Future.

Ann: Fantastic!

SCENE 3

Королева Елизавета Тюдор – на троне. Входят Дрейк, Волшебник и Аня.

Drake: Your Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, this strange girl says she is from Russia, from the Future. I think you`ll find her amusing and interesting to talk to.

Queen: Do you speak English?

Ann: Of course, I do.

Queen: So, my Empire, where the Sun never sets, has been enlarged with Russia, this old wild country.

Ann: But Russia will never be the part of the British Empire and there won`t be the British Empire itself... There will be a country called Great Britain on the British Isles. (подходит к карте, показывает на карте Великобританию.) Your Majesty the Queen, will you please, look at the map! Here is its land – the island of Great Britain and the Northern part of Ireland.

Queen: You are telling lies, a vicious girl! Guards grab her and put her into prison!

Ann: Wizard, help me, rescue me!

Wizard: Kings and Queens are not the ones to be told bad news to. We`d rather visit a person of science.

SCENE 4

За столом сидит Ньютон. На столе – бумаги, книги, телескоп. Смотрит в телескоп, что-то записывает.

Newton: Strange girl, where are you from?

Ann: I`m from Russia, from the Future. And you must be a scientist.

Newton: Yes, I`m Sir Isaac Newton, President of Royal Scientific Society. All the scientists know my works on Optics, Mechanics and Mathematics.

Ann: Is it true you discovered the Law of Gravity after an apple dropped on your head?

Newton: Nonsense! Only intellectual curiosity, hard mental work and diligence may lead a scientist to success.

Ann: Good-bye sir Newton. I have to hasten.

Newton: Good-bye strange girl.

Аня машет рукой на прощанье. Звучит музыка. Волшебник садится на метлу. Аня кружится вслед за Волшебником, как будто ее уносит ветер.

SCENE 5

Чертежная доска. На ней – чертеж. Рядом – человек в камзоле. James Watt думает, что-то поправляет в чертеже.

J.Watt: You are interested in my steam engine, aren`t you ? Time will pass and there will be steam engines everywhere. Believe me, I`m ,James Watt, tell you that.

Ann: It`s true, Mr.Watt, and later other engines will replace them. I know that for sure. I`m from the Future, from Russia.

Watt: What machinery on earth will there be in the Future?

Ann: There will be cars, trains, aeroplanes. There will be even spaceships…

Watt: Oh! Take me, take me to the Future with you! I`m skilled in machinery. I`ve been working on engines all my life. I`ll be useful in your time.

Wizard: Mr.Watt, it`s impossible. You are needed in your time. Good-bye, Mr.Watt. We are going back or forward.

Аня машет рукой на прощанье. Звучит музыка. Волшебник садится на метлу. Аня кружится, как будто ее уносит ветер.

SCENE 6

Тот же интерьер, что и в начале пьесы. Аня с рюкзаком за спиной возвращается из школы. Рядом – Волшебник.

Wizard: I`m leaving you. You should learn a lot of things that will bring good to your country. You can do it. You have a wonderful magic school and real wizards are your teachers. Here they are.

Волшебник и Аня показывают на учителей, сидящих в зале. В конце все поют песню.
