Ход мероприятия

Звучит песня: Happy Thanksgiving

By Steve Millang

Chorus:

Happy Thanksgiving,

Happy Thanksgiving,

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

It’s time to show what we’re thankful for,

Our mothers, our fathers, our friends and much more,

The toys that we have

The things we hold dear to our hearts,

They’re parts of this wonderful world,

The wonderful world that we share,

Let’s show that we care.

(Repeat chorus twice)

Ведущий № 1:

Today we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. It is American national holiday in memory of the first colonists in Massachusetts. People gather together with their families and give thanks for all good things in their lives. We will tell you about customs, traditions and symbols of this holiday.

The American Thanksgiving was celebrated first four hundred years ago.

In the autumn of 1620 one hundred and two pilgrims came to the United States from England for religious freedom. They sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in a small ship called the Mayflower. They settled in the place which is known as Massachusetts.

Ведущий №2:

The pilgrims were hungry, cold and sick, one half of them died. The following spring the Iroquois Indians taught them how to grow corn, barley, beans and other vegetables. Indians showed them also how to build houses, hunt and fish, cook dishes of pumpkin, cranberries corn and barley. The pilgrims worked hard all the summer in the field.

Ведущий № 3:

In the autumn of 1621 they got a beautiful harvest. The pilgrims were very thankful for many things, so they organized a feast and invited the local Indian chief and ninety Indians.

Since that time many of the colonists celebrated the harvest with a feast of thanks.

Ведущий № 4:

On Thanksgiving Day family members gather at the house of an older relative, even if they live far away. All give thanks for everything good they have.

Ведущий № 1:

Now it’s time to know about food, eaten at the first Thanksgiving Day. This traditional thanksgiving meal consists of roast turkey filled with herb-flavored bread, mashed potatoes and a pumpkin pie and jelly.

Ведущий № 2:

Thanksgiving is the holiday of joy and sharing warm feelings and wishes. It brings peace and harmony in the hearts of people. There are some special symbols of this holiday.

The horn of plenty, or cornucopia, is a traditional Thanksgiving symbol. It is a symbol of earth’s bounty and reminds us how much the earth gives us. Indian corn is used as a decoration.

There are also some special traditions, connected with this holiday. Every Thanksgiving Macy’s department store organizes a parade in New York City. In the parade there are balloons of popular cartoon characters, famous television stars, and bands from all over the United States. Each year, more than 55 million people watch this parade on television. Many American cities also have Thanksgiving Day parades. Watching football games on television is also a typical Thanksgiving Day activity.

Thanksgiving is a day when people send warm messages and wishes to their relatives, colleagues at work and their nearest and dearest ones. It is a day of expressing their feelings through Thanksgiving cards.

Ведущий № 3:

Now let’s take part in Thanksgiving Day activities. Let’s divide into groups and fulfill the tasks in different stations.

Дети проходят станции кругосветки по командам. Результаты за выполненные задания записываются в таблицу, которая есть у капитана. По завершении кругосветки, подсчитываются баллы за правильно выполненные задания и определяются команды-победители.

When the Pilgrims

First gathered together to share

With their Indian friends

The mild autumn air,

They lifted their voices

In jubilant praise

For the bread on the table,

The berries and maize,

For field and for forest,

For turkey and dear,

For the bountiful crops

They were blessed with that year,

They were thankful for these

As they feasted away,

And as they were thankful,

We’re thankful today. (Jack Prelutsky)
