-Hello boys and girls! I’m glad to our meeting again! You always are active, creative and curious. You are interested in different things. I hope you are the same today.

-I’d like to start our meeting with the song.

-Guess what we are speaking about.

-Right you are! So we are speaking about….. London again!

-You are very curious. We studied the information about some sights of London and made thepresentations on our previous lessons.

-But recently I asked you to search the information on theme you are interested in and then present it.

-Now let’s form four teams. Each of you has got a fragment of a text. You should restore it interacting with each other. Those of you, who have the fragment of the same text, form the group.

-Lets read the theme of you group

-Now you know the members of your group. Each student in your group searched this theme and made the presentation. Look through them and choose the best one to present.

Most people think that Big Ben is the tall clock tower that stands above the Houses of Parliament. Well no. Big Ben is not the clock tower. It is one of the four huge bells inside the tower. Its name comes from the bell’s commissioner of works, Sir Benjamin Hall, or Ben. The tower is 98 meters high. The bell inside the tower is 13,720 kilograms. The clock on the tower is also huge. Each of the four clock faces is 7 meters wide. The hour hands are about 3 meters long and the minute hands are about 4 meters long .Perhaps one day you can go to London and see this amazing tourist attraction.

The Tower of London - one of the main symbols of the United Kingdom, occupies a special place in the history of the English nation.

Today the Tower of London - one of the main place of interest of the UK. He has not changed since the days of the past. The symbol of a sinister past the Tower of London is a place where formerly a scaffold of Tower Hill. Currently, the main building of the Tower of London - a museum and armory, which holds treasures the British crown and was officially still considered to be one of the royal residences. In the Tower there are also a number of private apartments, which are home to basically wait staff and distinguished guests.

London is the biggest city in Britain. More than seven million people live and work there. London

is one of the most important cities in the world. It is a centre for business and for tourism.

In London you can find some of the best theatres, cinemas and museums. There are many

beautiful old churches in London, too. There are about 10, 000 streets in London. Oxford Street is

London’s main shopping centre. You can buy clothes, shoes and toys in it. People from all over the

world shop in Oxford Street. You can find many old and new beautiful parks in the city. The largest

park in London is Hyde Park. It is one of the most popular places of Londoners on hot summer

days. There are many other pleasant parks and green squares there, too.

St. Paul’s Cathedral is one of the symbols of London. A great English architect Sir Christopher Wren built it. He designed many churches across England but St. Paul’s Cathedral is his masterpiece. It took Christopher Wren 35 years to build it. The work was completed in 1710. The cathedral is 175 m long and 111 m high. The interior of the cathedral is beautiful. There are a lot of mosaic decorations. St. Paul’s Cathedral is famous for the Whispering Gallery. It has unique acoustic. If you whisper anything on one side of the gallery, your words will be heard very clearly on the other side. To get to the gallery we will have to climb 263 steps. If you are not tired and ready to climb another 118 steps, you will be able to stand outside the Dome and enjoy a fantastic view over London.

St. Paul’s Cathedral is a place for many state ceremonies. Every year a special service is held on the occasion of the Monarch’s birthday.
