CHIP BIRD OF HAPPINESS
Now there is no need to try to catch your bird of joy. You can simply get it from a master, bring it home and tame it.

that were painted. Wooden and birch
bark dishes were decorated by the
painting. Many big items (cradles, caskets, trunks,
headrests) were painted. But the most
popular thing was to paint spinning wheels.
BIRCH BARK CONTAINERS
Items made of upper birch bark have been known since ancient times. Productions of these items is believed to
be one of the most ancient handicrafts and
considered to be original Russian handicraft.
Kozulyas Baking pryaniks (gingerbread) is another folk craft which is very popular in the North. The origin of the word kozulya may be explained by the fact that the most popular shape of such pryaniks was that of a sheep or a goat . Arkhangelsk kozulyas vary in shape and colour: they may have the form of a sheep, a horse a reindeer, Santa Claus, a fir-tree, a hare, a house and so on. At first the art of kozulya-making was a family craft, and every family had its own recipe which was kept secret. Nowadays you can buy both ready-made kozulyas and take part in a master class.
INGREDIENTS
- 4 eggs 3 cups of sugar 1 cup of water Vanilla Cinnamon Clove 8 cups of flour 1/2 t baking powder 250 g of butter

PREPARATION
Preheat 1 cup of sugar in a pan until it
browns. Watch carefully so it doesn't
burn. Take it as far to dark before burn.
Add cautiously 1 cup of boiling water.
Do not lean over the pan! Add 2 more
cups of sugar. Add the butter to melt
and cool the mixture. Set aside and let
cool.
- Beat up the eggs and stir into the
cooled mixture. Add vanilla, cinnamon,
clove and the baking powder, mix
together.
- Put 8 cups of flour on the table. Make a pit in the center and pour the mixture of sugar gradually, stir until the dough is smooth .
- Roll dough to a little 0,8 mm thickness.
Flour your work surface and rolling pin
as needed to keep the dough from sticking. Cut out cookies with cookie cutters.

Bake 12 minutes. Let cool 5 min on the
pan before transferring on a plate.
Decorate your kosulyas with icing,
candies, or colored sugar when fully
cooled.
Icing
In a small bowl, stir 1 cup of sugar and ½ cup of water, boil it, Be attentive do not let it brown. Add two beaten egg whites, keep blending for 4 min.
