Тема занятия: «Terrorism cannot be justified!» Цель: организация деятельности учащихся по расширению словарного запаса по теме « Безопасность в мире», совершенствование навыков аудирования и говорения на основе прочитанного и услышанного.
Задачи:1. Совершенствовать практические навыки владения лексикой по теме.
2.Развивать коммуникативные умения, познавательный интерес, повышать мотивацию к изучению иностранного языка.
3.Воспитывать у учащихся чувство собственного достоинства, ответственность к своей жизни, и жизни окружающих, осознание себя гражданином мира.

1.Организационный момент, приветствие, определение темы и цели занятия.
Good afternoon, dear friends! I’m glad to see you and I hope you’re OK, aren’t you? Today we’re going to discuss one of the most serious world’s problems. Look at the screen. Solve the rebus and you’ll read the topic of our discussion. (Territory’’’’rise’’m i=o) слайд2
Right you are. It is terrorism. (слайд 3) But what do we need to discuss this phenomenon? Aims:
-To know the meaning of the word “terrorism”
-To learn the new words
-To be able to speak to read to understand

| There are so many problems in the modern world, such as global warming, environmental issues, shortage of natural resources, earthquakes, floods and other disasters. But one of the most dangerous of all is terrorism. It is a huge threat to all mankind. Today we hear more and more news on TV about terrorist attacks. All magazines and newspapers write about this problem. Each year different countries face terrorism. A lot of people suffer from terroristic acts. Some die, some get wounded, others lose their loved ones. In certain countries people are even scared to go to the cinemas, theatres, concerts, supermarkets, and other crowded places. I think that people who become terrorists have no values in life. Most attacks take place because of misunderstanding. While some countries are in war with each other, their civilians suffer. Terrorism also occurs on basis of religious matters. It is especially sad when children become the target of terrorists. There was once such attack in south part of Russia, in Beslan. It was a terrible tragedy for the families of these school children and for the whole country. Another unexpected attack took place in Moscow in the musical theatre “Nord-Ost”. It happened in 2002 and shocked Russian population as well as people all around the world. The USA suffered from a series of terroristic attacks. The largest of all happened on September 11th 2001 in New York City. The two huge skyscrapers were ruined and thousands of people died. I think that terrorism is not just a problem, it’s a global disaster. People should unite and root out it together! - Why is terrorism a global problem? - Children become the target of terrorists, don’t they? -Where and when was such attack in Russia that shocked all the world? -What is the largest terroristic attack in the USA? -What should the people do to root out terrorism? |

Well, I suggest you to work in groups. Read the text; insert the phrases into the gaps. Try to give the description of “terrorism”.

Dee. I’m very afraid of a terrorist attack. I worry about my mum travelling on the underground in central London. The government wants to hide the fact that we might have a problem with terrorism, but it is inevitable.
Joe. The fear of terrorism hasn’t changed but I don’t avoid crowded places in London or anything. If we stop living our daily lives and are scared to do things, the terrorists have won. I hate all this ‘eye for an eye’ relation. It will leave the world blind. We are used to terrorism in the UK, but we hope the situation will soon be different.
