- Education system in China
- According to the latest statistics, there are currently 3,000 universities in China, including two thirds of the state, the rest - private.
- 20 million students study at higher educational institutions.
- The education system in China includes basic education (pre-school, general primary and secondary), secondary vocational, general education and adult education.
- The modern education system in the PRC has a number of specific features, if compared with foreign counterparts.
- So, unlike another Asian giant - India, China is a country with a high and fast growing level of literacy.
- The term of elementary education in China is 6 years.
- The curriculum in China includes ideological and moral education, native language, politics, history, geography, physics, chemistry, biology, physical education, music, art, physiology and hygiene, work skills, etc.
- The first 9 years of study in China are compulsory education.
