THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR

The Great Patriotic War began on 22 of June in 1941. The USSR and Germany began at war.

In 1942, Germany was able to conquer Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, Moldavia and Belarus. Hitler moved to Moscow. 

It was the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the most terrible ordeal in the history of the peoples of the multinational Soviet State.

Leningrad was taken into the blockade, but the Germans were not allowed into the city. The battles for Moscow, Leningrad and Novgorod continued until 1942.

  In 1942, one German army and four Russian armies were destroyed. Thanks to the military resource, our army was superior to Germany. In our army fought: professional soldiers and people.

Staff was not enough. If in 1940 more than 30 million people were employed in production, then in 1942 only about 18 million people were employed. The factories produced weapons, made tanks, knitted warm clothes and sent them to the front.

The Soviet Army continued to advance towards Berlin. Leningrad was conquered and in 1944 the USSR moved to Poland

on the 8 of may in 1945 Berlin was taken and the war was over.

In May on 9 in 1945 there were folk festivities, crowded rallies. In the squares and parks of cities and villages there were groups of amateur performances, popular artists of the theater and cinema, orchestras played.
