THE OLD WOMAN AND HER PIG

Once, an old woman finds some money in her house. She says, “What can I do with my money? I know. I will go and buy a little pig.” So she goes and buys a pink pig. The pig is nice. The woman and the pig go home together and come to a stile. The woman goes over it but the pig does not want to go.

The woman walks on and meets a dog. She says, “Dog, help me, please, bite my pig. The pig does not jump over the stile and I will not come back home tonight.” But the dog says, “No.”

The woman walks on and meets a stick. She says, “Stick, help me, please, beat the dog. The dog does not bite my pig. The pig does not jump over the stile and I will not come back home tonight.” But the stick says, “No.”

The woman walks on and sees fire. She says, “Fire, help me, please, burn the stick. The stick does not beat the dog. The dog does not bite my pig. The pig does not jump over the stile and will not come back home tonight.” But the fire says, “No.”

The woman walks on and meets water. She says, “Water, help me, please, put out the fire. The fire does not burn the stick. The stick does not beat the dog. The dog does not bite my pig. The pig does not jump over the stile and I will not come back home tonight.” But the water says, “No.”

The woman walks on and meets an ox. She says, “Ox, help me, please, drink the water. The water does not put out the fire. The fire does not burn the stick. The stick does not beat the dog. The dog does not bite my pig. The pig does not jump over the stile and I will not come back home tonight.” But the ox says, “No.”

The woman walks on and meets a butcher. She says, “Butcher, help me, please, kill the ox. The ox does not drink the water. The water does not put out the fire. The fire does not burn the stick. The stick does not beat the dog. The dog does not bite my pig. The pig does not jump over the stile and I will not come back home tonight.” But the butcher says, “No.”

The woman walks on and meets a rope. She says, “Rope, help me, please, hand the butcher. The butcher does not kill the ox. The ox does not drink the water. The water does not put out the fire. The fire does not burn the stick. The stick does not beat the dog. The dog does not bite my pig. The pig does not jump over the stile and I will not come back home tonight.” But the rope says, “No.”

The woman walks on and meets a rat. She says, “Rat, help me, please, eat the rope. The rope does not hang the butcher. The butcher does not kill the ox. The ox does not drink the water. The water does not put out the fire. The fire does not burn the stick. The stick does not beat the dog. The dog does not bite my pig. The pig does not jump over the stile and I will not come back home tonight.” But the rat says, “No.”

The woman walks on and meets a cat. She says, “Cat, help me, please, eat the rat. The rat does not eat the rope. The rope does not hang the butcher. The butcher does not kill the ox. The ox does not drink the water. The water does not put out the fire. The fire does not burn the stick. The stick does not beat the dog. The dog does not bite my pig. The pig does not jump over the stile and I will not come back home tonight.” The cat says, “Go to the cow and bring me some milk. Then I will eat the rat.”

The woman runs to the cow. She says, “Cow, help me, please, give your milk.” The cow answers, “I will give you the milk if you bring me the hay.”

The woman runs to the haystack and brings the hay to the cow. The cow eats the hay and gives the milk. The woman brings milk to the cat. The cat drinks milk and begins to kill the rat. The rat begins to eat the rope. The rope begins to hand the butcher. The butcher begins to kill the ox. The ox begins to drink the water. The water begins to put out the fire. The fire begins to burn the stick. The stick begins to beat the dog. The dog begins to bite the pig. The pig jumps over the stile. The woman and the pig come home together.
