The person I admire most is Zuly Sanguino. She is a 24-year-old limbless artist. She was born in 1990 in Columbia. Zuly is famous for her paintings and the way she copes with having phocomelia – she has underdeveloped limbs

Zuly’s childhood

Zuly’s family was very poor; they lived in a hut with a dirty floor. Their life was very difficult – Zuly was born with underdeveloped limbs. Her father always beat her and her mother. And one day he made a suicide. It was a really hard time for the rest of her family. Zuly was really depressed and tried to end up her life but her mother did not give up, saved Zuly’s life and taught her art. Now she is a happy person who is mad about drawing the nature. Zuly draws that very well.

Zuly’s life nowadays.

• Now Zuly is 27 years old. She sometimes works as a motivational speaker - she gives lectures how to overcome any obstacles and problems and how to become better than you are. She gives these lectures in private firms, big events and even prisons. She wants to help others with her own experience.

The reason I admire Zuly Sanguino

• The reason I admire her is because she is a strong and a talented person. I know how difficult the process of drawing is even for healthy people but I can’t imagine how strong disabled people should be not to give up and finally gain strength to create their own masterpieces. Zuly, despite her disease, still delights and inspires people with her paintings and she also helps others.
