The World of Mass Media

Mass media is one of daily necessities of a human being. The first newspaper was printed in Italy in the 16th century. The first newspaper in Russia appeared at the beginning of the 18th century. Press usually comments on matters and events of public interest, also it educate and entertain people. The first radio was invented by Alexander Popov in 1895 in Russia. Television is not as old as radio. Television was born at the end of the 19th century. At present radio and television are considered to be one of the major sources of information in the world. It allows everybody to follow the events in far-away countries in good time without visiting them. It is impossible to overestimate the role of the radio and television nowadays. 

Every day we read newspapers and magazines, listen to the radio and watch TV. Nowadays there are so many newspapers and magazines, radio stations and TV-channels that we have to be selective and give preference to some of them. The newspapers and magazines I read are the most readable and have a large readership or circulation. One of them is “Arguments & Facts”. This newspaper is worth reading, because there I can find all necessary information and it is always true fact.  But the most convenient way of getting information is to use Internet. From it I can learn as much information as I want and all types of it. I communicate with a lot of people in Russia and abroad and exchange information. Mass Media also influences the way people look at the world and make them change their views. Millions of people in their spare time watch TV and read newspapers. On the radio one can hear music, news and various discussions or commentaries of current events. On the TV you can see a lot of documentary programs or films.

  Also I think that Mass Media is an inventor because only in XX century we began to understand what role Mass Media plays in our life.
