Thematic work for 9th form students

Last summer I went to Majorka island for my holiday. This island is a fantastic place to relax and meet a lot of interesting people.  It is famous for its long, sandy beaches and its crystal clear waters. Swimming in that sea is magic! I stayed in a five-star hotel which was really wonderful. It was enormous. It had 150 rooms, five bars, a restaurant and a wide swimming pool. The reception area of the hotel was impressive. There was the information desk where you left your keys every time you went out.

The hotel lounge, where you could sit and relax or read your newspaper, was beautiful. It was colourful and had a fantastic collection of modern, wooden sculptures. The restaurant had delicious dishes and offered special vegetarian meals for those who don't eat meat.
During my holiday I met several people. I met the leading actor of "Top Gun", a new adventure film. He was friendly but talked to us about his film all the time, so he was boring after a while. The most interesting person I met there was Tamara, a young Spanish scientist who took part in a seminar at the hotel. The way she talked about science fascinated me and I was curious to learn more about why light travel so fast and how time goes backwards and forwards.
You couldn't get bored when you stayed in that hotel in Majorka. I was disappointed when I had to leave. Hopefully, I will go back next summer!
