When we want to buy something, we go to a shop. There are many kinds of shops in every town or city: a supermarket, a clothes shop, a bookstore, a dairy shop a pharmacy, a gift shop, a newsagent’s, a stationery shops, a grocery, a bakery, a butcher shop,etc.

Sugar, tea, coffee, salt, pepper, ham, bacon, and so on are sold at the grocer’s. Bread is sold at the baker’s, meat at the butcher’s. We go to the greengrocer’s for vegetables and fruit. We buy boots and shoes at the shoe shop. We buy books at the bookstore and jewellery and watches at the jeweller’s.

Well, all this stuff you may buy at a market place and very often it is cheaper and of better quality.

I like to do my shopping at big department stores and supermarkets. They sell various goods under one roof and this is very convenient. A department store, for example, is composed of many departments: clothes, fabrics, shoes, sports goods, toys, china and glass, electric appliances, cosmetics, linen, curtains, cameras, etc. You can buy everything you like there.

My favorite shop is a clothes store. I really like shopping for new clothes and shoes. My mum always helps me to choose the right size and the right design. However, I prefer shopping with my best friends.

We can order goods by telephone and with the help of different catalogues and fashion magazines. And now you can purchase things on the Internet. Shopping is a very interesting way to spend your time.
