«Тюдоровские времена»

I’d like to show you my presentation “The achievements of Tudor times that are alive today”.
The Tudors were the great British royal dynasty (1485-1604). They came from Wales and took the power after the Red and White Roses’ war.
Now, briefly about all of them.

1. Henry VII (1485-1509).
Henry VII conquered the throne with the help of the sword, by uniting the dynasties of Yorks and Lancasters. The Tudor’s Rose also became the symbol of the whole England.
He filled the treasury and made trade agreements. Henry made a lot to develop the navigation and sheepbreeding.

2. Henry VIII (1509-1547).
He became the king after the death of his father.
At first he was against the Reformation and even wrote a book “Defence of the Seven Sacraments” and got a title of “defender of the Faith”. In that time the parliament began to work.
In 1534 he became the Supreme Head of English Church.
During his reign Wales became a part of England, and English became the main language.

3. Edward VI (1547-1553).
He was a boy of 9, when became a king.
During his reign the Book of Common Prayer was instituted as a handbook.
The liturgy of Christianity was legalized.

4. Mary (1553-1558).
Mary restored papal supremacy in England, abandoned the title of Supreme Head of the Church, reintroduced Roman Catholic bishops.
After Mary got married, England became intimated with Spain.
All people consider her politics incorrect and that it was against England.

5. Elizabeth (1558-1603).
Elizabeth was the last Tudor monarch. Her reign is considered to be the golden age in English history.
(She made a compromise between Roman Catholicism and Protestantism.)
Different expeditions of that time prepared England for an age of colonization. England became a mistress of the sea.
The arts developed during Elizabeth’s reign. Country houses such as Longleat and Hardwick Hall were built.
The Queen herself attended the first performance of Shakespear’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream”.
The image of the Queen’s reign is one of triumph and success.

Ending my presentation, I’d like to go through the most important achievements of Tudor Times again. Here they are:
1. The Formation of Tudor’s Dynasty.
2. The Development of Navigation, Trade and Arts.
3. The Enrichment of Treasury.
4. Preconditions of Colonization.
5. Expansion of Territories.
6. English became the official language.
7. Reformation of the Church.
8. England became a Mistress of the Sea.
Thank you for attention!
