Aims of the lesson:

Educational:

  • to develop pupil’s speaking skills on the theme “Hobby”.

Aims of the lesson:

Educational:

  • to enable students to use present participle and constructions;

  • to develop pupil’s speaking skills on the theme “Hobby”.

  • to develop pupils’abilities in speaking, writing, reading skills;

  • to express their own opinions;

  • to improve their pronunciation, memory, to enrich students’ outlook.

I. Now let’s think words on the topic. Think of as many words as possible related to the theme hobby. You have two minutes. Who has written 10 words stand up, please?



II. Simultaneous Round Table. Give your views about the different hobbies. Make 4 sentences using the words in the columns. You will have 2 minute. Student 1 give your card to the second, the second student to the third, the third to the forth and the forth to the first. Read sentences from the cards.

Grammar

And now we will learn about present participles.

Правила образования Present Participle или Participle I

1. Present Participle (или Participle I) образуется при помощи окончания –ing, которое прибавляется в инфинитиву глагола без частицы to.

Примеры:

to hold – holding

2. Если инфинитив оканчивается на немое –e, то перед окончанием –ing оно опускается.

Примеры:

to write – writing

3. Если односложный инфинитив оканчивается на одну согласную, которой предшествует одна гласная, то конечная согласная удваивается.

Примеры:

to sit – sitting

4. Конечная буква –r удваивается, если последний слог ударный и не содержит дифтонга.

Примеры:

to prefer – preferring

5. Если двусложный/многосложный инфинитив оканчивается на одну согласную, перед которой стоит одна гласная, то конечная согласная удваивается, лишь в том случае, если ударение падает на последний слог.

Примеры:

to equip – equipping

6. Конечная буква –l удваивается, если ей предшествует краткий гласный звук.

Примеры:

to travel – travelling

6.1. По правилам орфографии США, буква -l удваивается, только когда ударение падает на последний слог.

Примеры:

to compel – compelling

7. Если инфинитив заканчивается на –y, то окончание –ing просто добавляется к инфинитиву.

Примеры:

to carry – carrying

Исключение!

to lie – lying

to die – dying

to tie – tying

Present Participle соответствует русскому причастию действительного залога настоящего времени и деепричастию несовершенного вида.

Примеры:

to study – studying – изучать – изучающий

to dress – dressing – одевать – одевающий
