Задачи:
Образовательная – создать условия для проверки усвоения лексических единиц по теме;
Развивающая – развивать познавательную активность и творческие способности учащихся;
Воспитательная – воспитывать умение бережного отношения к окружающей природе и заботе об экологической обстановке.
Оборудование: медиапроектор, презентация “BBC NEWS”
Ход занятия:
1.Орг.момент:
- Hello,everybody! How are you? I’m glad to see you!
2.Основная часть
- And today we are going to watch “BBC NEWS”
(на экране заставка с логотипом «ВВС», звучит музыка, в студию входит
ведущий)
Announcer: - How do you do! This is BBC News with Helen Parker. And here
is some breaking news for today:
tells us about passenger pigeons;
water pollution;
The greenhouse effect is the problem of a rise in temperature in the earth’s atmosphere
People! Attention! Forests are in danger!
And now listen to the interview with the Professor John Smith about passenger pigeons.
Interviewer: - Hello! I’m Linda Black. And I’m asking my questions to the
Professor of the American University Central Asia John Smith.
- Hello, Professor! Tell us about passenger pigeons.
Professor: - Hello, well, you know that in 1900 many zoos had passenger
pigeons. On 14 September, 1908 the last wild passenger pigeon
was caught near Detroit. Martha, the last living passenger pigeon
in the world, died on 1 September, 1914. Her body is placed in a
museum in Washington, D.C.
Interviewer: I see, Professor, could you describe the birds, please?
Professor: Well, the passenger pigeon was one of the largest and most beautiful
members of the pigeon family. It was about forty-five cm long, had
narrow wings and a long graceful neck. Its tail was twenty cm long
and was silvery white. The head was dark blue and the neck was gold
and green and purple.
Interviewer: Thank you ,Professor, and good luck! It was the interview with the
professor of the American University who told us about passenger
pigeons.
Announcer: Today ecologists were discussing a very important problem as
water pollution. Listen to the “Let’s protect our environment”
society and its decisions.
1st ecologist: Nowadays people understand how important it is to solve the
environmental problems that endanger people’s lives.
2 nd ecologist: The most serious environmental problems are:
pollution in its many forms (water pollution, air pollution,
nuclear pollution);
destruction of wildlife and the beauty of the countryside;
shortage of natural resources;
the growth of population.
3d ecologist: There is no ocean or sea which is not used as a dump. The Pacific
Ocean, especially, has suffered from nuclear pollution because
the French Government tests nuclear weapons there.
4 th ecologist: Yes, many seas are used for dumping industrial and nuclear waste.
Many rivers and lakes are poisoned too. Fish and reptiles can’t live
in them.
5 th ecologist: If people drink this water they can die. It happens so because
factories and plants produce a lot of waste and pour it into rivers.
So they poison the water.
1st ecologist: Well, let’s clear rubbish from lakes and rivers.
All the ecologists: Well done!
Announcer: It was the “Let’s protect our environment” society. And now Jack
Brown, our special correspondent is speaking over the telephone
about the greenhouse effect. Hello, Jack!
Jack Brown: Hello, Helen! Have you ever heard about it? It works like this:
sunlight gives us heat. Some of the heat warms the atmosphere, and
some of the heat goes back into space. Nowadays the air surrounding
the earth has become much warmer because the heat can’t go back
into space. That’s why winter and summer temperatures in many
places have become higher. During the last 100 years people have
produced a lot of carbon dioxide. This gas in the atmosphere works
like glass in a greenhouse. It lets heat get in, but it doesn’t let much
heat get out. So the atmosphere becomes warmer.
Announcer: But, Jack, where does the carbon dioxide come from?
Jack Brown: People and animals breathe in oxygen, and breathe out carbon
dioxide. We produce carbon dioxide when we burn things. Trees
take this gas from the air, and produce oxygen. But in the last few
years, people have cut down and burnt big areas of rainforests.
This means there are fewer trees, and, of course, more carbon dioxide
So, the climate in different parts of the world changes a little from
year to year. These changes can be dangerous for our fragile planet
which needs protection.
Announcer: Thank you, Jack, and the next news for today is about burning forests
in Greece. Listen to the interview with a fireman from Greece.
Correspondent: Well, what happened in Greece?
Fireman: There are a lot of burning forests everywhere! We need help! It
happened because people leave rubbish in forests and use forests as
dumps!
Correspondent: How can we help you?
Fireman: Let’s clear up forests from rubbish and litter!
Announcer: It was the news from Greece. And at last listen to the weather forecast
for tomorrow with Stephanie Bolton.
Stephanie: Hello, I’m Stephanie Bolton and this is the weather forecast in the
USA for tomorrow. And the sponsor of our programme is the
medicine “Shoes-and-Ice”:
Take this medicine “Shoes-and-Ice”
And now the weather forecast, in New York it’ll be sunny and mild,
a little bit cloudy, but nice and warm. Down in the southeast the weather will be wonderful. In Miami and Florida it’s going to sunny and very hot. It will be thirty degrees above zero. In Minneapolis it

In Denver and Colorado it’ll be a perfect day, warm and nice.
And on the west coast in Los Angeles and California it’ll be sunny and warm. This was the weather in the USA for tomorrow.
