“Miss Beauty”

Level: Pre-Intermediate

Objectives: to develop pupil’s speaking skills and culture of communication; to develop pupil’s logical thinking and memory; to stimulate interest for learning English.

Equipment: posters, pupil’s pictures, colourful ribbons for the participants, a crown for the winner, a multimedia system, a track “Love Me Tender” by Elvis Presley.

Announcer 1: Good morning, dear guests!

Announcer 2: Good morning, boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen!

Announcer 3: We are glad to see you at our party! Winter has already gone, spring is coming. We are waiting for sun and flowers, for warm days and bird’s singing!

Open the windows and open the door
And let the fresh breezes blow in, blow in.
Jack Frost has gone to his home in the north
And all of a sudden it’s Spring!

Announcer 4: Spring is coming, spring is coming.
How do you think I know?
I see a flower blooming,
I know it must be so.

Announcer 1: Spring is coming, spring is coming,
How do you think I know?

I see a blossom on the tree,
I know it must be so.

Announcer 2: Spring is here! Spring is here!
Winter is gone and two flowers appear.
Three little robins begin to sing.
Four bicycle bells begin to ring.
Five children come out and jump the rope.
Spring is here now! I hope, I hope!

Announcer 3: Spring, spring is coming soon,
Grass is green and flowers bloom,
Birds returning from the south,
Bees are buzzing all about,
Leaves are budding everywhere,
Spring, spring is finally here!

Announcer 4: So, you have already guessed, that the theme of our party is spring! And love, and friendship, and of course – women, because Women’s Day is very soon!

Announcer 1: Every year, on the 8^th of March, women become queens – for a day! On that day all the men and boys give them flowers, cards and presents as offering of their love and friendship.

Announcer 2: So today we also want to congratulate you, your mothers and grannies, sisters and teachers, to wish you joy and happiness.

Announcer 3: as this day is a holiday of beauty, we invite you to our own contest of beauty – “Miss 5C”

Announcer 4: First of all I’d like to introduce our honourable jury and narrators – our dear teachers. Welcome to our show!

Teacher 1: Good morning , dear boys and girls! We are glad to see you today1 Let’s start our contests.

Teacher 2: And now it’s time to meet our charming participants. Here they are :#1 - Lera, #2 - Anya, #3 - Tasya and #4 - Ira. Your applauds!

They are not alone today, but with their groups of support. They will encourage our girls during all the game and help them to win.

So, you have a chance to become acquainted with our young beauties. They will tell about themselves. The first contest is “Introduction”. Please, tell us about yourselves.

Teacher 2. You know that on Women’s Day we honour our sisters and grannies, colleagues and teachers but first of all, our mothers. On that day we present them our smiles, flowers, gifts and postcards. And the most valuable gift is that one made by yourself. So the next contest is “The best postcard for my mother”.

Teacher 1. On that wonderful day we’ll speak about love – between a man and a woman, a mother and a child and love between people in general. And the best way to tell about your feelings is to do it in rhymes. So, our next contest is poetical. Our girl will express their romantic feelings in poems.

The kindest voice I'll ever hear.
The one who cares the most for me
Is my own mother dear.

All through the year

Spring, Almost

Teacher 2. Our girls are not only beautiful and charming, they can not only recite poems, sing and dance well, but they are also good hostess. They know everything about cooking, about keeping the house and meeting guests. Now they will demonstrate their cooking talents. Ladies, your task is to make a recipe for a dinner on Women’s Day.

Complete the recipe: (fill in the verbs – add, mix, cut, boil, wash, peel, put, take)

Russian salad

… 5 potatoes, 2 carrots, … them. Now … the vegetables and 3 eggs, … them and … .

… everything in a big bowl, … all the ingredients, … mayonnaise and salt. Enjoy your meal!

Teacher 1. While our girls are working, their support groups have a chance to help them, to get some points for their beauties. I invite 4 boys who will defend the honour of their girl. Who are these courageous knights who will fight for their Beautiful Lady? (Lera – Artem, Anya – Roma, Tasya –Yaroslav, Ira – Tima). Please, boys, tell us what are they like, your ladies?

Teacher 2. I suppose our participants have already made their recepies. Please, show your papers our jury. Now you are sure that they will be good hostess, aren’t you? But I wonder, if they have a pleasant voice? So, the next competition is “The golden voice of our class”. (девочки все вместе) Love Me Tender

Teacher 2. Some people think that the beauty is the most important thing for a girl. But we are sure that the beauty without intelligence is nothing. It is not enough to be just pleasant looking. Are they clever, our girls? It’s time to check this. The next competition is “Householding Crossword” On this cards you should find as many names of food as you can. Who will be the first?
