Today is the 14th of February.
Now it is the day for sweethearts, lovers and friends.
It is the day, when you show your friend or lover
how much you love and care about them. You can send candies or
flowers to your friends. But most people send me, Valentine Card.

About the origin of the Holiday.
There are some legends about the origin of St.Valentine’s Day. Here is one of them.
When the Roman Emperor Claudius II needed soldiers, he made a law against marriage. Claudius believed that single young men made better soldiers, and marriage would make men want to stay at home.
A kind priest Valentine by name saw the love of young couples, so he married them secretly against the law. But Valentine was discovered and condemned to death. In prison Valentine showed the love for everyone.
His jailer had a young daughter who was blind. And Valentine performed a miracle. He cured the jailer’s daughter of her blindness. Just before his death on February 14, he sent a letter and signed “From your Valentine.”

About the symbols of valentine cards.
There are many symbols on valentine Card. A fan shows that you open your heart to a person you love.
A ribbon shows that you want to be tied to another special person.
A ring is a symbol of love and binding to another person.
Lace shows that you want a special person to be caught in the net of your heart.
A red mitten is a sign that you don’t like someone. So when a person gives you a red mitten, he says: “I don’t like you.”
A coin shows you will marry a wealthy person. So, if someone gives you a coin he or she is wishing you to be wealthy.
И хотя этот праздник возник в древнем Риме, он распространился по всем странам. Но наибольшее распространение он получил в Англии и США. Там же возник обычай дарить открытки – валентинки, подарки и цветы.

Nor.: - Once upon a time, there lived three brothers. They were winter months. The eldest brother’s name is February, the middle – aged is January and the youngest one is December. They liked to tell each other different interesting stories. One day they had a talk about seasons.
December: - My dear brothers, I heard about spring. Somebody tells me that she is beautiful, isn’t she?
January: - I heard too, but never saw her. They say that she is young and pretty girl.
December: - Oh, what a pity. I’ll never see her in my life. But I would see her for a moment and love her up to the end of my life.
Nor.: - December couldn’t meet Spring because he saw only Autumn. He loved Autumn, but all his dreams were about Spring. He became more and more sad. He did his winter duties without any wish. He freezed pools and rivers, but snowflakes were not so shining as before.
February: - My dear little brothers. I see spring every year and can certainly tell you that she is really beautiful and unforgettable. It is very impossible for you to see her. It is very dangerous for you. But don’t worry. There are miracles in our life. And may be they will help you.
Nor.: - Suddenly snow began to melt, the Sun began to shine and the beautiful girl Spring appeared in the Sun’s rays. December was glad. They looked at each other and their hearts filled with joy. (Вальс)
Spring: - Why are you so sad? Aren’t you happy that we have met each other? It is the happiest day in my life.
December: - My days are over. We must say “Good- bye”. I’m not simply sad, but I’m rather unhappy. We’ll never meet each other anymore in our life.
Nor.: - Embraced firmly, they silently began to cry. And people couldn’t understand why it is raining in winter. They were tears of two lovers.
