Why I chose to become a teacher

Teaching is a challenging job with many unique frustrations, but the rewards of teaching are numerable.

Teaching is one of the most direct ways to make an impact, and if you are driven by the desire to help those around you, being a teacher is an invaluable contribution.

Many of great teachers that I have had throughout my education are my heroes and role models. I began t understand in high school and college that great teachers have skills that I wanted to learn. I want to follow their examples.

1. It’s an opportunity to work with young people and make a difference in their lives. 

2. The job is varied, with different experiences every day.

3. Being a Lifelong Learner - you will never learn a topic better than when you start to teach it. Students always ask the most interesting questions, prompting you to dig deeper and learn more about the aspects of science they are most curious about.

4. There’s the chance to inspire students in the way you were inspired. Many teachers said that it was one of their teachers that had inspired them to enter the profession.

5. Teaching is fun, and there are plenty of opportunities to be creative in conveying information to young people.

6. You can share your passion for your subject. Teaching could be a great way to pass on your knowledge and passion.
