These two approaches are different and firstly I'd like to mention speaking aspect. While the Grammar Translation Approach doesn't use speaking at all, in the Direct Approach speaking is a central concept. Also these approaches has different goals – the Grammar Translation Approach is focused on teaching culture and morality, but a purpose of the Direct Approach is to teach students speaking naturally, to learn about other culture with people and traveling in a real life.
