I love teaching English.  I enjoy watching the natural process of learning a language. We are hard wired to learn languages and if given the chance anyone can learn a new language because our brains are built to learn languages. I’ve read about different theories of learning languages and how we accomplish this some think that in the first few years of life we have a mechanism that helps us learn our native tongue. This theory would explain why it gets more and more difficult to learn a language as you get older. I believe this may be true however I think it is more complex. Other linguistics also believe in the idea of universal grammar. After teaching English and learning Spanish and then Italian I believe this idea is also valid.  We all need to communicate basically the same ideas no matter what language or culture. Every language shares the ability to express universal ideas, thoughts, and emotions.
