What is a bear?

A bear is a large, stocky animal with thick, fluffy fur. There are eight different species of bears that can be found across the world, including the Brown bear, the Polar bear, the Panda bear and the Sun bear.They have non-retractable claws, short stumpy tails and a strong sense of smell. Depending on the species, they can be large or small, with polar bears reaching about 6 feet long and weighing over 1000 pounds.

What are frogs?

Frogs are amphibians, which means they’re able to live on land and in water. They have striking characteristics, like protruding eyes, webbed feet and their skin is smooth and moist. Most of them live in water, but some species of frog live in trees or burrow down into the ground.

Frogs have very strong back legs, designed to help them leap and swim. A frog’s diet also varies depending on its species. Some eat insects and other worms, while others prey on other frogs, small rodents and reptiles.

What is a Swans?

What is a rabbit?

Rabbits are often considered to be cuddly animals that are easily taken care of and therefore, the perfect pet for children.

In a survey conducted by PDSA to a selection of the UK’s rabbit owners, 26% commented that they had indeed brought rabbits into the home as a result of their children wanting a pet. While this may seem to cement the belief that rabbits make ideal pets, there are several reasons why they and other animals such as guinea pigs may not be the perfect ‘starter’ animals for children.

What is a camel?

Camels are mammals known for their humped backs. There are three living species, but the two most-known are the single-humped dromedary and the double-humped Bactrian.

Camels are members of the Camelidae family; along with the llama, the guanaco, the vicuña and the alpaca; and they form the genus Camelus.

The mammals have existed for millions of years; the earliest known camel inhabited North America between 40 and 50 million years ago, known as Protylopus. It was similar to a rabbit in size and lived in the woodlands of what’s now South Dakota.

What is a dolphin?

Dolphins are incredible. They are socially skilled, intelligent, agile, joyful, and playful creatures that share many emotional similarities with humans. There is an impressive range of different species of dolphin and they all have their own unique identities and characteristics!

Dolphins are considered to be one of the worlds most intelligent animals. They are very social creatures who can interact, play and hunt with one and other. They can communicate with each other using a variety of vocalisations in the form of clicks and whistles. They’re also known to form close social bonds with other dolphins.

They live in groups which are called pods. Dolphin pods can contain anywhere between 2 to 30 dolphins at any given time. In some cases, pods will combine to form superpods. These superpods have been known to have upwards of 1000 members.

What is an eagle?

Eagles are large birds of prey belonging to the family Accipitridae. There are 60 species of eagle, most of which are from Eurasia and Africa. There are two species on North America, nine in Central and South America and three in Australia. Eagles are large and powerfully built, and are often referred to as the king of all birds.

Eagles have heavy heads and beaks, which are hooked for ripping flesh from prey. Their legs are muscular and their talons are strong, making them a deadly predator. Eagles eyes are incredibly powerful too, exhibiting a visual acuity up to 3.6 times that of humans. This enables them to spot prey from long distances. All female species of eagles are larger than their male counterparts.
