As you know, there are many different languages in the world. But more than half the people in the world today speak languages that come from one old language. Its name is Indo-European. The Indo-Europeans were a group of people who lived in the northern part of the continent of Europe. There was not much food in the area where those people lived and their life was hard. So they began to leave their homes and tried to find better places. As they moved about, they took their language with them. They had new homes all over Europe and as far away as India. With time, the Indo-European people began to speak in different ways. After thousands of years, the original Indo-European language turned into different languages.
