Hello, my dear students! I am glad to see you. Are you ready for the lesson? What`s your mood today? Let`s smile and start.

Формулировка цели урока

We`ll start our lesson with a riddle. Look at the screen and try to solve it.

The main [RIVER] of [LONDON] – The Thames. So, who has guessed, what we are going to talk about today? Yes, about the river Thames.

And now I will show you an extraordinary thing. What is it? Yes, this is a letter. Who wrote it? What do you think? A., come here, please, and read it aloud. So, who wrote this letter? Yes, a pirate. What is A CHEST? What is REWARD? So, what will we do today? Yes, we will search for a pirate chest. What do you think, what is inside? No, that is not treasure. That is a good mark. We will work in 2 groups, and the group which finds the chest, will get “5” for this lesson. After each task the commands will get a HINT. Every hint is a word. In total you will get 4 hints and make a phrase. This phrase will help you to find the chest.

I will also give each of you these small points for each task. And the person, who gets more points than other students, will get the second “5”.

So, let`s start working. Our topic today is…? Yes, the Thames. What is the Thames? Yes, it`s a river. And what do you want to learn on this lesson? Speak about the river.

What do we need to know to do that? Yes, we will need special words, connected with the topic RIVERS. Do you remember them? Do you need to recall them? Let` s recall all words that you know. Look at the chart. I will make a spidergram.

Now, look at your working papers. Do task number 1. Look at it, please. Here you have to choose only one task of three. There are 2 levels: a Simple level, an Intermediate l. and a Complicated l. Mind, that you may get different amount of points for each task.

The next task for you is the following. Look at the back of your working papers. There you have a text. You will watch a short video and find 8 mistakes in the text. You should not only find them, but also correct the mistakes. You will watch the video twice.

Now, check your work of your partner, looking at the screen. Who has done it with no mistakes, or with just 1 mistake? You get 3 points. If you have made 2-3 mistakes, you get 2 points. Those who made 4-5 mistakes get 1 point.

Now, the next task. It is in your Student Books. Open them at page 101, please. You made it at home for today. Let`s check it together.

Now, you will work in pairs. Your next task is to work with the text. It is divided into 4 paragraphs. Each pair works with one paragraph. Look through your part of the text and discuss what title it might have. You will have 1 minute.

At last, we come to our last task. You will have to retell your passage to your partner in your own words.

You have 5 minutes. Students, who sit on the 1^st variant, should start.
