Linguistic Game “Sea Battle – Our School under the scarlet sails”

Цели:

- актуализация изученного материала по теме «Школа»;

- тренировка навыков аудирования и диалоговой речи;

- уважение к истории школы и её традициям;

- формирование умения работать в команде.


Оборудование:

- игровое поле для игры в «Морской бой»; 14 фигур кораблей (по 2 на каждое задание,

в случае если команды получают равное количество баллов)

Moderator 1: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!

Moderator 2: Good afternoon, dear teachers, girls and boys!

Moderator 1: Good afternoon now,

Wake your body and mind!

Work, play, seek and find,

Think and win too,

Enjoy being with friends and do!

Together: Good afternoon now!



Moderator 2: - Today we shall play the game “Sea Battle”. We have two teams. Every team is a ship. We have changed a little the rules of the game. You see the field of the battle, you see the ships. You will get a task. If the members of the ship do the task better, they will get a ship. At the end of the game our jury counts the ships and we shall find out the winner.



Moderator 1: SHIP A1 (24 words). It’s important to define the topic of the game. You should finish the sentence in English and in rhyme. For example: Вижу в классе много рук! Книга по-английски … book. The team will guess more words will get its first ship. We will ask the teams by turns, if a team won’t be able to give an answer, we may ask another team twice. The teams should keep order.

Criteria: a) knowledge of English words; b) discipline (Totally you may get 9 points)


Сел за парту, слышен треск,

парта по-английски … desk.

Кусочек мела дай, дружок.

Кусочек мела … piece of chalk.

Ученик к доске идет.

Классная доска … blackboard.

Хоть и мало ему лет,

Послание, записку, мы ждем уж целый месяц.

Без ошибок написать сумели:

правописание - это … spelling.

Вопрос вполне уместен.

Вопрос иначе - … question.

Скажу лишь слово, друг поймет.

А слово по-английски … word.

Moderator 2: SHIP B2 . Take your first ship. You are right; the topic of the game is school. To be more precise - “Our School under the scarlet sails”. (We open the poster and picture on the blackboard.)

It’s time to get acquainted with our teams. You get 5 minutes to name your team, to create a slogan, may be a song and present your team for our jury. The most interesting presentation helps you to win a ship.

Criteria: 1) creativity 2) discipline 3) mutual understanding ( You may get 3 points)

Moderator 1: SHIP С3. How creative you are! Team “ ” gets the ship. Next task is to demonstrate how you know the main ship – our school, its history, its traditions and so on. Every team will get 2 lists of questions about our school. You get 8 minutes to write answers and present 1 paper for jury, another paper helps you to answer the questions. During doing the task –Venera Kalieva sing a song - . This task gives you 8 points.


Questions:

  1. How old is our school?

  2. When did the first pupils leave our school?

  3. How many masters of the school do you know?

  4. How many classrooms are there in the school?

  5. Do we push or pull the entrance door in the school?

  6. When did old “red school” move to this building?

  7. How many school leavers were in 1937?

  8. Name teachers who left our school. (8 points)



Moderator 2: SHIP D 4. The score is team “ ” \ team “ ” Take your ship. You are different according to your learning level. Now it’s time for the 5 and 6 graders to show their abilities, come here, please. The task is as follows: you should put numbers in order from 12 to 1; read and translate the proverb. Then do 5 sums. You may ask for help your elder teammates, but you lost so many points, so many times you ask them to help. Totally you may get 10 points. Time: 5minutes.

Moderator 1: SHIP G7. The score is team “ ” \ team “ ” Take your ship. The last task of our competition is for the eleven graders , come here, please. Your task is to read the limerick and finish it off, using the words listed in disorder . Totally you may get 5 points. Time: 5minutes.
