С развитием и распространением коммуникативно­го подхода к обучению иностранным языкам значитель­но больше внимания стало уделяться использованию языка в определенных социальных и культурных ситу­ациях.

Знание культуры, истории, страны и народа изучае­мого языка влияет на иноязычную коммуникативную компетенцию детей, дает возможность учащимся осу­ществить выбор в действии. Материалы, использованные в сценарии праздника, дают возможность расширить лингвострановедческие знания детей по теме «Лондон». Они связаны с темами «The Place Where I Live». «Things to See and to Do», «A Future Trip», «Places to Remember» УМК-5 В. Кузовлева, «Sightseeing in London».

Дополнительную информацию о том, в какие музеи Лондона можно повести ребенка, об их адресах, часах работы, о детских фильмах и других местах, где можно провести выходной с ребенком, можно получить на сай­те «This is London».

Музыкальное сопровождение – английские детские песни.

Оборудование: обстановка комнаты, стол с телефоном, рекламная газета или буклет, сделанные детьми. Название газеты — «Children's Review» или «Children's London Diary».

Рекламные материалы для газеты можно использо­вать на уроках английского языка в качестве текстов для чтения или аудирования.

Sports museums


Arsenal Museum

The red bus that Arsenal used to show off its trophies around north London is among the more unusual exhibits at this museum which offers fans a comprehensive history of the club. The Arsenal Museum. Open Fn 9.30 a.m. — 4 p.m. or on match days to those in the North Bank.

Stadium tours, which also include entry into the museum, take place most weekdays (excluding match days).


MCC Museum and Lord's Tour


Take a behind-the-scenes guided tour of Lord's, visit the famous Long Room and find out about the story of cricket from its origins 400 years ago through treasures which include the Ashes and a Coalport china dinner plate which celebrates WG Grace's «century of centuries». MCC Museum, Lord's Cricket Ground St. John's Wood Road, NWS.

Museum of Rugby


As well as having the world's most extensive and impressive collect of rugby memorabilia the Museum has plenty of hands-on activities, touch-screen computers and video footage to satisfy even the most demanding fans. Families can visit the England dressing room, the players tunnel and look over the whole ground from the top of the North Stand. Museum of Rugby, Rugby Road, Twickenham. Tues-Sat 10 am — 5pm, Sun 11 am — 5 pm.

Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum


See Pat Cash's headband and Anna Kournikova's dress, visit the new art gallery and watch past matches as men and women players struggle for supremacy. The two and a half hour tour takes visitors to the No 1 Court, the BBC television studio, the museum and the Water Gardens. Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, Church Road, Wimbledon. River & Rowing Museum


As well as documenting the history of the University Boat Race and the Henley Royal Regatta, visitors can see the winning boat of the first Oxford and Cambridge boat race, the world's oldest known competitive rowing boat and the boat in which Sir Steven Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent won Britain's only gold medal at the Atlanta Olympics.

National Horseracing Museum


Children can tack up a model horse, dress up in silks and ride a horse simulator or on special minibus tours they can meet stable staff and watch the horses. Lots of horseracing memorabilia and a special display about Fred Archer, the Victorian jockey whose losing battle to keep his weight down finally led him to commit suicide. The National Maritime Museum


Where does the sea draw its power from? How are tides, waves and currents formed?

Visitors to the National Maritime Museum can find out about the workings of the oceans in a new display Making Waves.

An eleven metre-long transparent tank and wave generating machine will give a vivid demonstration of how the oceans affect all life on the planet.

A modern lightweight 49-er racing dinghy and Dodo, an 1890s sailing boat will help demonstrate how and why boats move through water as well as the principles of sailing.

Children will be able to generate twisting currents, vortexes and whirlpools as well as being able to watch waves develop which they have generated themselves.

Potty on Beatrix Potter


Naughty Peter Rabbit, house-proud Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, inquisitive Benjamin Bunny and ever resourceful Mrs Tittlemouse sing, play and dance with other animals beneath the garden table in Arian MitchelPs new adaptation of four Beatrix Potter tales.

Pete: Hello, I'm Pete Evans. And this is my sister Army.

Anny: Hi!

Pete: We are from Wales, but now we live in London.

Anny: We come to visit our friends the Porters. Here they are.

На сцену выходит семья Портеров.

Mr. Porter: Hello. I'm Mr. Porter. I'm a manager. Call me Alex.

Mrs. Porter: Hello. I'm Mrs. Porter. Call me Mary.

Arthur: I'm Arthur. I'm ten. I'm fond of sports. I like com­puter games.

Mark: Hi, I'm Mark. I'm ten too. We are twins. I'm also fond of sports.

Paula: Hi, I'm Paula. I like singing and dancing.

Начинает петь песню «I'm Paula»: I am Paula, I am Mrs. Porter's daughter.

I am Paula,

And I'm never naughty.

She tells a pretty tale to me.

Paula: I like to play with Mummy too! I'm Mother's pet!

And my hair is very black

As you can see. I try to be

As good as gold,

And I nearly always do

What I'm told!

I've two dolls, lots of toys

And a brother;

And I'm very, very, very

Fond of my mother!

They are now in the park.

Mark: Ma, I want to be a gorilla!

Arthur: I like to ride in a railway train

Through tunnels dark and wide,

Over the bridges crossing the river.

I feel so safe inside.

Pete: But an airplane is the best of all,

It flies so very high

That people look like tiny dots,

And clouds go sailing by.

Anny: And where shall we go? Can you help us, Mr. Por­ter?

Alex: I see... (Берет со стола рекламную газету). Oh, I see...It's about the National Maritime Museum and six of the best sports museums.

Paula: I dislike sports! I dislike sports museums! And I?

Mary: Oh, honey, don't cry! I think there is something in­teresting for you.

(Просматривает газету). Do you remember the book «Peter Rabbit» by Beatrix Potter?

Paula: Yes!

Mary: Peter Rabbit sings, dances and plays with other an­imals.

Paula: Oh, I guess. It's a show. I like shows. Wow!

Mary: I'll book now special Unicorn Peter Rabbit Fami­ly Days. It's include a professional Peter Rabbit workshop, the best seats from the show and tea with actors afterwards.

Anny and Paula: Wow! Great!

Paula: Is it for me?

Mary: It's suitable for ages four and over.

Pete: I have never heard about the National Maritime Museum. I think we can see old ships there?

Alex: The museum of old ships is on the Thames.

Arthur: And we can see the «Discovery» there. She went to the South Pole in 1901-1904.

Alex: In the Maritime Museum we can find out about the workings of the oceans, how are tides, waves, and currents formed.

Mark: And what about these six sports museums?

Alex: They are: Arsenal Museum, MCC Museum and Lord's Tour, Museum of Rugby, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, River and Rowing Museum, National Horserac-ing Museum.

Arthur: We are not fans of Arsenal, so we shan't go to this museum.

Pete: What can we find out in MCC museum?

Alex: All about cricket, the story of it from its origin 400 years ago.

Arthur: And in Museum of Rugby we can find out all about rugby! Wow! Where is it?

Alex: It's at Rugby Road, Twickenham. And the Muse­um has plenty of hands-on activities, you can also visit the dressing room, the players tunnel, look over the whole ground.

Characters: A Fairy, the Woman, her daughter Army, the King, Tom Tit Tot.



Scene 1

Fairy: Dear boys and girls! I can tell you an interesting sto­ry about a girl Anny and the strange little black thing—Tom Tit Tot. Now, listen! Once upon a time there was a woman who baked five pies and left them on the shelf to cool.

Ha сцене женщина ставит пироги на полку. Когда она уходит, входит ее дочь, берет пироги и съедает. Девоч­ка в сценке может делать это условно.

Anny: How nice! How tasty!

Mother (входит и видит, что пирогов нет): Oh, shame on you! There's nothing for supper now.

Берет прялку и начинает прясть. Макет прялки сде­лан заранее.

Mother (напевая):

My daughter has eaten five pies today,

My daughter has eaten five pies.

Fairy: Just then the king rode by and he heard the song, but he couldn't catch the words, so he stopped and got off his horse.

The King: What are you singing, my good woman?

Fairy: The woman didn't want to tell him the truth so she changed the words.

Mother: My daughter has spun five skeins today, My daughter has spun five skeins.

The King: I've never heard of a girl who could spin five skeins a day. I'll marry your daughter. She'll do all she likes for eleven months of the year, but in the twelfth month of the year she'll have to spin five skeins a day, or I'll kill her.

Mother: All right.

Fairy: She thinks: «He will be so happy that forget all about the spinning». So they are married. All goes well. They are happy. But now the last month of the year comes.


Scene 2


Появляются король и королева.

The King: Now spin five skeins in this empty room or it's off with your head!

Король уходит. Анни садится и начинает плакать. По­является маленький чертенок.

Tom Tit Tot: Why are you crying?

Anny: I have to spin five skeins a day and if not, it's off with my head.

Tom Tit Tot: I can help you.

Anny: What do you want for that?

Tom Tit Tot: Oh, very little. You just have to guess my name. You can guess three guesses every night, but if you don't guess right by the end of the month, you'll have to come away and live with me for ever.

Anny: Well, I agree.

Fairy: Every night he knocks on the window, brings five skeins and Anny tries to guess.

Tom Tit Tot: Now, what's my name?

Anny: It's John.

Tom Tit Tot: No it isn't.

Anny: It's Bill.

Tom Tit Tot: No.

Anny: It's Dick.

Tom Tit Tot: No.

Fairy: It's the end of the month now, the last day. Anny is in despair. She can't guess the name of that little black thing.


Scene 3


За столом сидят и разговаривают король и Анни. Ко­роль неожиданно смеется.

Anny: What's so funny?

The King: I was hunting this morning. When I was riding past a chalk pit I heard a strange sound. So I get off my horse and looked down into the pit. I saw a little black thing with a long tail. It was spinning and singing;

«Nimmi nimmi not

My name's Tom Tit Tot».

Fairy: The girl is happy. She isn't afraid of Tom Tit Tot now.


Scene 4


Снова в комнате Анни. Появляется чертенок.

Tom Tit Tot: It's the last day today. What is my name?

Anny: Is it Robin?

Tom Tit Tot: No!

Anny: Is it Bruce?

Tom Tit Tot: No!

Anny: Nimmi, nimmi, not.

Your name is Tom Tit Tot.

Tom Tit Tot: Oh dear me! (убегает)

Fairy: No one has ever seen him again.

Anny: I'm happy. I'm the happiest woman in the world.

Fairy: That's the end of the story, good bye!
