New York is the largest city in the USA and the biggest seaport. It is the business centre of the United States.

New York lies on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. Americans believe that New York city is the center of the planet and the capital of the world.

• New York city consists of five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten island. The most famous borough of New York city is Manhattan.

• Manhattan is an island. It is a very important business part of the city. Native Americans called this place "Mannahatta", which meant "island of many hills".

Fifth Avenue is a street in the heart of Manhattan. If you are fond of shopping it’s just for you. You can buy everything you want.

• The Metropolitan museum is situated on Fifth Avenue. It is the biggest museum in New York. It was founded in 1870 by businessmen and admirers of art. The museum has a wonderful collection of paintings and artifacts of the Ancient East, Africa and Asia.

Chinatown and Little Italy are very interesting places to visit.

Here you can find food from nearly every country of the world.

Central Park is a very pleasant place, a green island in the middle of a busy city.

Brooklyn bridge became a symbol of industrial progress of America. It connects the southern part of Manhattan to Brooklyn. The width of the bridge is 26 m, the height above water in the highest place is 41 m, and the length of 1828 m.

• Broadway is almost the most famous street in America, and even in the whole world. Broadway is not just a street, but the center of successful theater productions and musicals.
