We are going to continue our talk about Grammar in Use (inf-ve, phrasal verbs, word formation). Well, open your books please P.32. Ex.5a. Firstly read the theory box about word formation. Then complete the advert on P.33 using nouns formed from the words in brackets. Ss you have 2 minutes to complete the task individually then report your answers.

After that we’ll check the answers. All right! Ss take your time! Well, I knowingly marked this verb-take. As we’ll speak about phrasal verb take as you can guess, for the first. So, let’s understand the meaning of the phrasal verb take. For further details see page 32. Study the diagram. Look through the word collocations and synonyms. Read them silently. Try to understand the meaning according to their synonyms. Then look at the board please. Match to each word-combination in English suitable variant in Russian. Come to the board, please and do it.

Now I come to the question of dep.prep. Some verbs are usually followed by prepositions before the object of the verb. These prep. are called dependent prepositions and they are followed by a noun or a gerund (‘ing’ form). Ss pay attention to Appendix 1.to complete the sentences with depend. prep.about,on,of,at,in. I’ll give you 2 minutes to do it.
