The Republic of Dagestan is the southernmost region of the Russian Federation.North-Caucasian Federal District. It is located at the junction of Europe and Asia in the eastern part of the Caucasus. It is washed by the Caspian Sea. It borders on land and the Caspian Sea with five states-Azerbaijan,Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, within the administrative borders ofthe Russian Federation, it is adjacent to Kalmykia, the Stavropol Territory and the Chechen Republic.
