SCHOOL IN JAPAN

Japanese children begin to go to school when they are five. All pupils wear school uniform and there are a lot of school rules.

In Japan children from the age of six to eighteen clean their school. They spend 15 minutes to half an hour a day cleaning or taking out rubbish.

Pupils in Japanese schools work very hard. This is what a fourteen yea old Shingo tells about his usual working day.

“I get up at 6 o’clock and catch a train to school at 7 a.m. every morning. Lessons begin at 8 and are over about 4 p.m. After school I usually play basketball. I get home at 7 p.m., and I do homework about 2 hours. I have no time for friends. I work hard because I want to go to a college”.
