The Smiths

The Smiths live in a small house not far from a town. It’s simple but lovely with new furniture and nice curtains on the windows. There is a large garden behind their house. The parents like to work in it and grow different vegetables and fruit.

Mrs. Smith spends a lot of time in their small comfortable kitchen downstairs. There she has everything at hand: a big fridge with lots of food, a modern cooker next to it, a cupboard with beautiful plates, cups and glasses and the sink for washing them. She likes to cook tasty dishes for their friendly family.

Mr. Smith can do everything with his own hands. If there is any problem in the bathroom or toilet or with his car, he can fix¹ everything without anybody’s help.

Their daughter Sarah hates to plant the flowers or help her mother about the house. Her clothes are always around her bedroom. She never puts them in the wardrobe. Sarah does not want to put her things in the right places. She prefers to read about everything that happens in the world. She reads in the morning, in the afternoon and at night. She reads sitting in the chair in front of the fireplace or on the sofa, in the dining room at the table or even on the carpet in the hall.
