Objectives:
To introduce and practise words about Spring holidays.
To practise speaking about seasons and weather.
Equipment:computer, presentation, photos, cards, handouts.

Warm up.
Last lessons we spoke about seasons and weather. Let’s remember.
Answer the questions:
Look at the pictures. Say the season. Describe the pictures. What can you see on the pictures?

Group work.
Present a holiday. Pupils are divided into 5-6 groups of 3 or 4 members. They are given a picture. They should guess what holiday is presented on the picture and describe the holiday and the picture. After preparation (4-5 minutes)the pictures are presented on the screens so that everybody can see it and one representative of a group makes his description.

Presentation English holiday “May Day Holiday”.
After speaking about holidays celebrated in our country teacher present an English holiday for pupils. It’s May Day that is celebrated on the 1st of May in England.
May Day
May Day is a holiday in England. On May Day young people pick flowers and put them in their homes. They sing spring songs and choose a May king and May queen. They give them crowns of spring flowers. Children dance round a maypole with coloured ribbons. The ribbons make a bright picture on the maypole.
Singing the English folk song “Greensleeves”.
Pupils have learnt an English folk song “Greensleeves” for the lesson. It is a very popular song in Great Britain. It was written in XVI century. Since that time it had a lot of versions. By our time it has several modern versions. Pupils sing it.

Work with the text. Pupils have cards with the text about Navruz. There are also some words on the cards. They should fill the blanks using these words. After doing the task they should read the text and check together.
