DESCRIBING PEOPLE
In writing your descriptions pay attention lo the following points.
Figure: tall, short, lanky, stout, thin, frail, delicate, athletic, muscular, weedy, erect, bent, sturdy, lusty, stalwart, drooping, robust, brawn; husky, manly, powerful, strapping, gigantic,
deformed
Face and head: round, oval, long, small, square-jawed, thin, fat, bullet, fiat, wrinkled, wizened Forehead: narrow, flat, bulging, receding, wrinkled, wide, prominent, high
Nose: long, fiat, bulging, snub, straight, broad, dainty, enormous, bulbous, aquiline (eagle-like)
Hair: straight, wavy, curly, matted, unkempt, coarse, fine, tangled, brown, grey, silvery, auburn, golden, long, silky, shingled, bobbed, plaited
Eyes: clear, bright, large, small, brown, blue, grey, sly, merry, beady, shifty, twinkling, sparkling, round, almond-shaped
Skin: pale, swarthy, tanned, dusky, fair, bronzed, sunburnt, florid, ruddy, rough, smooth, freckled, pimply, blotchy
Mouth, lips, teeth: wide, thin, straight, pearly, stained, bad, decayed, gleaming, irregular, projecting, prominent, uneven, well-brushed, thick
Character: humble, kind-hearted, proud, haughty, vain, greedy, selfish, cheerful, miserable, gloomy, affectionate, honest, charming, spiteful, mean, loyal, generous, adorable, sincere, detestable, lovable, earnest, stubborn, obstinate, fanatical, enthusiastic, timid, bold, excitable, impetuous
Clothing: think of the many different kinds of garments you have and make a list of them
Habits: make a list of these from your own observation of people, from characters in films or TV shows
Voice: low, high-pitched, squeaky, sweet, shrill, hoarse, deep, harsh, grating, rasping, tenor, bass, agreeable, melodious, husky, raucous, sepulchral, nasal, guttural
