Development of second language personality of university students and formation of competence in foreign language learning strategies
Need
Foreign language learning strategies became an object for study in the theory of for eign language teaching in the sixties of the last century.
Task
Scientists' interest grew to such personal factors as cognitive style, social, gender identity, motivation.
Main message
Language learning strategies is a term referring to the processes and actions that are consciously deployed by language learners to help them to learn or use a language more effectively.
Personality theory assumes that everyone is different and that individuals are characterized by a unique and basically unchanging pattern of traits, dispositions or temperaments.
Personality has however, been studied in a variety of different ways.
Objectives:
1. Analyzing studies on language learning strategies, defining principal trends of foreign language learning strategies formation;
2. Developing a design of forming students competence, and a plan of its implementation under the conditions of university;
3. Drawing a conclusion about the results of the research.
There are six strategies that learners use when learning a language. The strategies include:
- Memory
- Cognitive
- Comprehension
- Metacognitive
- Affective
- Social
Second language learning is a conscious process where the learning of another language other than the First Language takes place.
Often confused with bilingualism and multilingualism , the process has to take place after the first language has already been acquired.
Second language learning could also refer to the third, fourth, or fifth language the learner is currently learning.
The Second Language refers to the language learned after the The First Language has been acquired. A language can only be referred to as your Second Language if the learning occurs after you have acquired your First Language.
