Learning outcomes: By the end of the lesson PP should be able to

1 to know about fairy tales;

2 to know about fairy heros;

Objectives: Educational: to practise Past Continuous

Developing: to practise reading for specific information

Upbringing: to practise talking about fairy tales and characters in theme ;

to know Past Continuous Tense, Past Simple Tense ;

to read for specific information practise work with the Wordlist

Aids: Pictures, ICT, scene,models and etc.

Pre – activity:

Warming up(2min)

Guessing the today’s theme!

-Good job!!! Today’s theme is about Fairy Tales!!!

Activity 1(3min)

Objective: to revise Past Continuous

Procedure:Ask PP to recollect what they were doing before you came into the classroom. Tell them that one of them will do the action and the rest will ask questions as in the example. The pupil who guesses the action is the next to show what s/he was doing. For ex:(ate,walked…)or teacher can give questions about using from fairy pictures ;

1What was doing fox in the first picture?

2What was doing wolf in the second picture?

3What was doing Jack in the third picture?

4What was doing pig in the fourth picture?

Activity 2a

Objective: to practise working with the Wordlist

Procedure:PP find the translation of the new words in the Wordlist. Draw their attention to the two irregular verbs. You can ask them what they notice about the third and the fourth word. Hopefully most of PP will be able to say that they are irregular verbs. If they fail to give this answer, give them an example, which they will easily recognise, e.g. go-went, have-had. Ask them to copy the words and give translation in their exercise books.

Procedure:PP read and answer the question. Do you like fairy tales?And try to read the handout 1

Objective: to generate the interest to prepare for the next activity.

Procedure: Ask PP to look at the picture and answer the question.

Activity 3c

Objective: to listen for specific information

PP listen to the tape and answer the question.

What did the snake want the mosquito to do?

Activity 3d

Objective: to read for specific information

It is obvious that the answer to the question in the very first sentence. Nevertheless, you should let PP read the whole text before asking them to say how fairy tales begin in English. Explain that ‘Once upon a time’ corresponds to whatever beginning exists in their mother tongue and should not be translated word for word.

Activity 3e

Objective: to give further practice in reading for specific information

PP read and answer the questions.

1. Who are the characters of the fairy tales?

2.What do you know about them?

3.Is the fairy tale complete?

4.How does the story end?

Activity 4

Objective: to practise talking about fairy tales and characters in them

Start with reading the example. Make groups. Tell PP that they should talk about a fairy tale that everyone knows, so that it will be possible for their friends to guess it.And PP should try to show as a scene

With their model heros ending of the fairy tale.

Write summery about today’s fairy tale.
