Types of schools

State schools - государственные, financed by local authorities (free)

Public schools - частные (private, you must pay)

Boarding school – школа-интернат (public or state)

Interesting

• The most famous public school in Britain are Eton, Harrow, Winchester.
• A year at Eton costs 17,000 pounds. It is very old, and a lot of important people used to be students there. It is an all-boys school.
• Prince William, the Queen’s grandson, went to Eton too.

SECONDARY EDUCATION

At the age of 11-16 years – junior high school (средняя школа)

• Marks are closed to everybody except parents
• Marks are sent by post in envelopes to parents
• No meetings for parents
• All information is reported tet-a-tet
• Marks are not important for school administration or authorities
