An open-ended question - is the question which designed to encourage a full, meaningful answer using the subject's own knowledge or feelings. It is the opposite of a closed-ended question, which encourages a short or single-word answer.
Authenticity - Made or done in the traditional or original way, or in a way that faithfully resembles an original
Brainstorming – process of generating creative ideas and solutions through intensive group discussion
Checklist - a list of things that can be checked off as completed or noted.
Coherence - the situation when the parts of something fit together in a natural or reasonable way
Collaboration – it is an action of working with someone to practice or create something
Complexity- is the state of having many different parts connected or related to each other.
Contextualized – the feature in that students are real world, nontrivial, important
Crafting the essential question requires – brainstorming and revision; link to the “big idea”,the most challenging task in planning PBL projects
Critique -is a method of disciplined, systematic study of a written or oral discourse.
Driving question – it is a question that guides instruction, and learners find meaningful and important.
Driving question – the question which serves to organize and drive activities to the project, provides continuity and coherence to the full range of project activities.
Ethical – the feature in that they do no harm to individuals, organisms, environment
Feasible – the feature in that students can design and perform investigations to answer the questions
Features of good driving question – feasible, worthwhile, contextualized, meaningful, ethical
In-Depth Inquiry - a seeking or request for truth, information, or knowledge and investigation.
Inquiry - an act of asking for information.
Inquiry based learning - is a form of active learning that starts by posing questions, problems or scenarios—rather than simply presenting established facts or portraying a smooth path to knowledge.
Meaningful – the feature in that they are interesting and exciting to learners
PBL – a model of classroom activity that shifts away from the usual classroom of short isolated teacher-entered classroom.
PBL - learning experiences which engage students in complex, real-world projects through which they develop and apply skills and knowledge.
PBL- a strategy which recognizes that significant learning taps students’ inherent drive to learn, capability to do important work, and the need to be taken seriously.
PBL -learning which requires students to draw from many information sources and disciplines in order to solve problems
Project – the development of confidence in using English in the real world
Provocative - serving or tending to excite or stimulate
Worthwhile – the feature in that students contain rich science content that aligns with national and district standards
