The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Irelands is situated on the British Isles.

The British Isles consists of two large islands, Great Britain and Ireland, and about five thousand small islands.

Their total area is over 244,000 square kilometres.

London

London is the capital of Great Britain, its political, economic and cultural center. It's one of the largest cities in the world. Its population is more than million people. London is situated on the river Thames. The city is very old and beautiful. It was founded more than two thousand years ago.

Birmingham

Birmingham is a city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands of England, standing on the small River Rea.

Glasgow

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland, and third-largest in the United Kingdom.

The flag of Great Britain represents the flags of three countries that are united under one Sovereign and is a combination of their heraldic flags:

The flag of England is represented by the St. George's Cross , which is a red cross on a white base.

Scotland is represented by the St. Andrew's cross , which is the white diagonal cross on a blue base and

Northern Ireland is represented by the St. Patrick's Cross, which is the red diagonal cross on a white base .

Big Ben (Elizabeth Tower)

• is the nickname for the Great Bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London and is usually extended to refer to both the clock and the clock tower.

Nothern Ireland

• The capital is Belfast;
• The famous characters are Rory Mcilory, Joey Dunlop and Van Morrison;
• The important day is May 3 rd , 1921

Rory Mcilory

• is a professional golfer from Northern Ireland who is a member of both the European and PGA Tours (professional golf tours). He was world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking for 95 weeks.

Joey Dunlop

was a world champion motorcyclist from Ballymoney in Northern Ireland.

Van Morrison

• is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter, instrumentalist and producer. In 2016, he was knighted for his musical achievements and his services to tourism and charitable causes in Northern Ireland.

• was a conflict that followed the Irish War of Independence and accompanied the establishment of the Irish Free State, an entity independent from the United Kingdom but within the British Empire.
