Teacher introduces learning and lesson objectives

Learners write the date, day and lesson objectives into their copybooks.

Warm-up. Pictures about house.

Work on vocabulary

Aim: to revise vocabulary

Task 1. Matching the pictures of the parts of the house (1-16) to the words.

Task 2. Matching the pictures (1–13) to the words. Furniture and household objects.

Task 3. Learners use pictures and definition of types of houses to write the types of houses in the third column. (teacher can modify this activity according to the level of the learners and the words they learnt)

Aim is to check knowledge of vocabulary and spelling

Learners exchange their worksheets after finishing the tasks and check each other looking at the slides of PPT.

Learners write their results opposite the first objective of the lesson.

Task 4. Pair works. Describing the room they like and explain why they like it.

Learners choose one of the pictures and explain why they like it.

Aim: to use vocabulary on furniture and ‘because’ when they give reasons for their choice.( Formative assessment “Traffic lights).

Task 1. Reading the Writing File.

Aim: to practise use of linking words for addition and contrast, prepositions of place and construction there is / there are

Task 2. Answering the questions and use them as a guidance to write about their favourite room

Writing

Task 1. Writing a description of your favourite room. FA

Learners again exchange their worksheets and check each other using assessment criteria

Learners write yes / no opposite the second objective of the lesson

Teacher collects the worksheets to analyze the results.

Task 2. Learners in pairs complete a chart to show differences between two types of homes. They compare charts with another pair.(pair assessment)

Encourage learners to share ideas and collaborate. One can write notes on the left side of the chart (yurt) one on the right side (new homes) (in the copybooks) More-able learners, write a sentence about which home they prefer or like and why. (differentiation by task)

Ex: I like the yurt because it looks warm.
