Invitation, how to invite people somewhere

Нажмите, чтобы узнать подробности

When people invite somebody to the cinema, to the theatre or somewhere else, they usually use the following expressions.

Let’s go to the park.

Let’s have a lunch.

How about watching a good TV program?

How about to go to the circus?

I feel like going to the cinema tonight.

I feel like playing chess.

I don’t feel like studying tonight, let’s go out.

Can you come over for my party tomorrow?

Can you come over for dinner tonight?

I’d like to take you to the museum on Friday.

All these expressions are informal, that is to say, you can invite your friends with them. But if you invite people who are older than you, your teachers or your friends’ parents, it would be better to say the following:

I’d like to invite you to our meeting on Sunday. Can you come?

We are having a party on Saturday night. Would you like to join us?

When people accept invitation they usually say:

I’d love to. Thanks.

I’d be glad to come. Thank you.

Ok.

All right.

That sounds good.

That sounds great.

That sounds like fun. Let’s go.

I’d like that very much.

When people refuse they say:

I’m afraid I can’t.

I’d love to, but I’m afraid I can’t.

I wish I could but I’m afraid I can’t.

Thank you for your invitation. But I can’t, I’m afraid.
