Hello, our names are Emily and Darya. We will present to you a research paper on "Careful! Talking clothes ".
Introduction
The theme: "Careful! Talking clothes " is not chosen by us by chance. English inscriptions are firmly embedded in the daily life of any person.
At present, the wardrobe of any teenager has clothes with decorations in the form of inscriptions. This style, long acquired by Europe and America, is gaining increasing popularity among Russian teenagers. These inscriptions can tell us a lot: about the sphere of interest of their owner, about the level of English language proficiency and about the level of culture. However, do owners of things take into account the sense load of inscriptions on clothes, especially if they are written in foreign, most often in English? Can we ignore the inscriptions on clothes or should we be legible in choosing such things? We decided to explore English inscriptions on classmates' clothes and suggest them to think before buying a trendy T-shirt, sweater or jeans.
The relevance of the chosen topic is that it is necessary to know the meaning of the written words on clothes in order not to be in an awkward situation.
The object of the study was English inscriptions on clothes.
The subject of the study is the information carried by English inscriptions on clothing.
The purpose of our study is to establish the level of understanding of the meaning of foreign inscriptions from their level of English proficiency.
Research objectives:
1. Study the history of inscriptions on clothes.
2. Find a certain number of inscriptions on the clothes of classmates.
3. Translate the meaning of inscriptions into Russian.
4. Conduct a questionnaire of classmates and identify the degree of awareness of the choice of clothes with inscriptions.
5. Draw a conclusion.
Hypothesis: if people become meaningful about choosing clothes with English inscriptions, their interest in learning English will increase.
Chapter 1.
The inscriptions on the clothes originate from ancient Greece, where there was embroidery on belts with the names of their owners. Italian and German portraits of the late 15 and 16 centuries show inscriptions woven into the ornament of men 's shirts, into corsages of women 's dresses, with the names of owners or devises of the noble genus.
As for modern inscriptions, at first they decorated only the shape of the workers, indicating their status, then they began to show which designer or firm this thing was, and later began to appear inscriptions bearing a certain meaning.
Chapter 2.
The inscription on the clothes is not just a decorative element, it is a means that has a variety of meaning content.
Then we decided to find out if our classmates understand the meaning of the inscriptions on their clothes. For this purpose we have compiled the following questionnaire questions:

Results of questionnaire of classmates
We recorded and analyzed the answers of 20 classmates and it turned out that all interviewees like to buy clothes with different foreign inscriptions. All the collected inscriptions on the clothes we conditionally divided into groups:
• 1. The name of the brand, the company of the manufacturer became the most popular. Among young people such brands of sports clothes as "Nike," Adidas, "Puma," Reebok "are popular.
• 2. Names of music groups or just directions in music, names of sports teams.
T-shirts with such inscriptions can often be found: "Metallica," Linkin Park, "Madonna for you," Manchester United. " When you see a person with such an inscription on his clothes, you can immediately conclude that he is a fan of a particular group or a ports club and we get some information about him, about his tastes and preferences.
• 3. Words with a joke or some phrases. People with humor stop their choice on funny phrases, for example: "I 've been shopping all my life and I still have nothing to wear,",” Space for free advertising”. Such a person seems positive and sociable to us, we intuitively tend to people with humor. In this case, the inscription on the clothes is a way to raise the mood of yourself and others.
• 4. Call, expression of personal attitude to the surrounding world, ecology. People seeking to express their opinion on the reality surrounding them, prefer T-shirts with calls: "Stop pollution," Save the Earth! " Stop and think".
• Love, romantic relationships, friendship: "Call me!", "I love you" .
• Neutral value of inscription having no specific information, "Sunday," Space, "Summer time," Butterfly. "
• Human characteristic. For example: "Forever Young," Legendary, "People like people but I am the Queen." That is why it is so important to know how your own inscription translates so as not to be in a ridiculous situation.
• Names of cities, countries. "Sochi," Russia. " New York.
• Cartoon heroes. “Mickey Mouse”, “The Simpsons”, “Spiderman”.
• Inscriptions with errors or meaningless writings. “I can to fly”, “Follou your dreams”.Warld.
Based on the results of the questionnaire, the following conclusions were drawn:
prefer to wear clothes with inscriptions - all students of our class; know about the meaning of the inscriptions - 12 students; don 't know the meaning of the inscriptions - 8 students.
Thus, it can be argued that we are responsible for the information we carry.
Conclusion
In our work we wanted to show that there is a close connection between English language inscriptions on clothes and the level of language proficiency.
During the study we studied the history of the origin of the inscriptions on the clothes, collected and systematized the inscriptions on the clothes of the pupils of our class, conducted a questionnaire.
It turned out that most of the surveyed schoolchildren do not pay attention to the translation of inscriptions and perceive them as decoration of clothes, a tribute to modern fashion.
Our research has been able to identify this problem and make teenagers think that we are responsible for the information we carry on ourselves, and it is extremely unwise to hope that everyone around us does not know a foreign language and does not understand the meaning written on your clothes. It should not be forgotten that “judge not of men and things at first sight” .
For ourselves, we concluded that we would not buy a thing with an English language inscription without first learning what was written on it so as not to get into a ridiculous situation.
We 're responsible for what 's written on our clothes.
So, read, translate, before you buy anything!
Нам немецкий надо знать-
Ну, хотя б слов сорок пять.
Чтоб на их «Wie geht es Ihnen?»
«Danke, gut!» нам отвечать.
Нам французский надо знать-
Ну, так слов от силы пять.
Чтоб, коль скажут нам «Bonjour!»,
Нам «Salut!» в ответ сказать.
И английский надо знать-
Слов хотя бы тысяч пять!
Ведь в любой стране придётся
Всё равно на нём болтать!
