But it’s time to say Good bye and leave it for another fascinating musical capital of Europe and listen to its music. Welcome to Berlin!

Berlin
Berlin is considered to be one of Europe’s finest musical and cultural capitals that has rich musical history.
Berlin has three major opera houses: the Deutsche Oper, the Berlin State Opera, and the Komische Oper. The Berlin State Opera on Unter den Linden opened in 1742 is the oldest of the three. On 18th of August, 1843 the Linden Opera was destroyed by fire. The new building was built a year later. It was called Royal Opera House. It had many famous conductors. One of the greatest was a German composer Richard Strauss. He who wrote in a Romantic style and became very famous when he was a young man. His operas were played by orchestras all over Europe. His opera Der Rosenkavalier, written in1910, is extremely popular.
Strauss liked the music of Wagner who had a great influence on his music, but he also liked Mozart and his works also shows the elegance and grace of Mozart’s music.
He is not related to the Austrian Johann Strauss family.
Now we want you to guess some of the most famous operas of the well-known composers from different countries that were played in The Berlin State Opera in different times: (student’s answers)
Mozart – «The Marriage of Figaro» (1790)
J. Verdi - «A Masked Ball» (1861)
Rimsky-Korsakov – «Snow Maiden» (1923)
Let’s listen to one more track. Try to guess what group it is. (Track)
Right! It’s Rammstein, German rock-group with its soundtrack from the famous album Live aus Berlin.
Rammstein was founded by guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe. In 1989, he escaped to West Berlin and started the band. At that time, he was heavily influenced by American music, especially that of Kiss. Rammstein was a great success in 1999, starting off the year in February with a nomination for Best Metal Performance at the 41st-annual Grammy Awards. Next year the Live aus Berlin concert was released on CD. Two weeks later Live aus Berlin went to number one in the German Album Charts.

OK, friends!
Berlin! In such a lively city your musical tour can’t possibly go wrong.
And don’t forget to visit the nearby town of Leipzig where Johann Sebastian Bach spent 27 years of his life and take a tour round one of the world’s largest music museums. There’s so much to do there!
But we are moving forward. The finest city of wonderful balls and waltzes is waiting for us! And it is … of course… Vienna!!!
Выступающий 3:
Vienna
V Vienna is a real musical capital of Europe. Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Brahms and many other brilliant composers lived and worked here. Vienna has absorbed everything of the most valuable and original, which is typical for Austrian culture. Vienna cultural life was greatly influenced by various folk traditions of Italy and the Czech Republic, Hungary and Germany. Art was highly appreciated here and many writers and artists could occupy a high position in society. Interest in the theater was great, places of public entertainment were beloved by all citizens, and in the salons you could meet poets and actors, academics and journalists.
Nowhere else you can see so many concert halls and opera houses. There is still a nice tradition of balls season which begins in November. To get to the ball you have to dress appropriately and be able to dance. Today, the music at the ball is not limited to the traditional waltz; you can hear rock, pop, and jazz.
Unique is also the Vienna Boys' Choir which has a 400-year old history and consists of the boys aged 10-14. The choir performs both classical things and modern music. In its repertoire there are songs of The Beatles, Madonna and Robbie Williams.
