так как в настоящее время английский пользуется большим спросом, я выбрал эту тему для более глубокого изучения. Для меня важно было понять, почему именно английский язык стал так популярен в мире.

Цель: найти причины почему английский стал популярным.

Задачи: 1) изучить историю английского языка;

1. найти причины, по которым английский стал глобальным языком;

2. узнать, почему ученики нашей школы изучают английский язык.

The description of the project

I like to study foreign languages, especially English. I started to study it from the second grade in our school. When I started to learn English I was interested in why we must study it, why our teachers and parents want and try to make us to learn it.

Every year I started to think about it all the time. In the fifth grade I decided to do the project which is called «English as a global language of communication».

In my project I would like to understand why English became so popular. So, the main purpose of my research is to prove why English is so popular nowadays.

The purpose is to study the English language as a subject at first and to find out its ways for distribution.

The tasks: 1. To explore the history of English. 2. To find out reasons why English became a global language. 3. To find out why pupils of our school learn English.

Methods of my project are research method, searching method and I use multimedia in my presentation. My project consists of two chapters. The first chapter consists of the history of appearing English and then, I tell about some reasons why English has become so popular in the world. In the second chapter I did the survey among the students of 2-5th grades of our school about their aims of learning English.

Introduction

I don't know any countries where no one knows English. If we compare English with other languages we will see that it is very popular than other languages. We can travel abroad and speak with foreigners and understand them without any problems, we can read books, watch a DVD and understand everything. By the way it is the main language of business, science, medicine, advertisements. It is the state language in five countries: Great Britain, Canada, the USA, Australia and New Zealand. In many Asian and African, European countries people speak English besides their mother tongue language.

The value of learning English rises every year. In my project I would like to understand why English became so popular. So, the main problem of my research is to prove why English is so popular nowadays.

The purpose is to study the English language as a subject at first and to find out its ways for distribution and reasons of globalization.

The main tasks are 1. To explore the history of English. 2. To find out reasons why English became a global language. 3. To find out why pupils of our school learn English.

Chapter 1.

1.1 The history of English

When the Angles and Saxons invaded Britain in the 5th century AD, they brought their language with them: 'English' or, as we call it now, Old English. Examples of Old English words are: sheep, dog, work, field, earth, the, is, you.

Two hundred years later, when St. Augustine brought Christianity to Britain in the 7th century, hundreds of Latin and Greek words were adapted into Old English: words such as hymn, priest, school, cook. In the 8th, 9th and 10th centuries, the Viking invaders added their own Norse words: get, wrong, leg, want, skin, same, low.

The English language began to spread throughout the world only in the 17th century when the first English settlements arose in North America. The rapid growth of population in the United States in the growing years increased the number of English-speakers greatly. In the course of massive migration of people in the 19th and 20th centuries, English became a mother tongue or one of the official languages in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and others countries. The finally established English as a world language.

1.2 English is an international language in the world

Nowadays English has become a global language. People speak English all over the world. English is spoken as a first language in 12 countries, in 30 countries as a second language. By the way 70 per cent of Russian students study it as their first foreign language. It is a language of international conferences and seminars and it is used in the Internet communication.

At present time 90% information in the global Internet is in English, about 85% international organizations and conferences use English, 50% scientific and research publications are written in English. The figures speak for themselves. Why English has become one of the most widespread universal language in the world? Initially, this semiotic system has simple grammatical structure. The national mentality of native speakers is oriented on the business relations formation; consequently the vocabulary is perfectly suitable for business communication. The most popular universities are English universities. In addition, we can say that English is a language of young people and it has become more popular every year.

Chapter 2. Pupils' opinions of our school about value of learning English

I did the survey of pupils' opinions of our school students about why they study English. I interviewed pupils from 2-5 grades.

The questions which I asked:

1. Why do you study English?

2. Do you need English in the future?

3. Is it difficult to study English?

The study showed that our pupils think that they need English for future. By the way they need English for travelling abroad, reading English books, understanding English songs, using Internet and playing computers games. Also, about 60% of pupils agree that they need to know English. About 35% of pupils like to study English; however, they think that it is very difficult language. Only 5 % of pupils said that they don’t need English at all but they study because they don’t want to get bad marks. The result of the survey has proved the English language is the most important language in our school like in the world in common.

Conclusion

We can say that English is so widely spoken. It keeps in our life and in other countries, also our country likes learning it.

Finally, English is very popular, interesting and old language. We use it in our life every day and it is a fact.
