Modern Kozelsk

What is about modern Kozelsk? It is located in the Kaluga area in the centre of the Russian plain and borders with Ulyanovo, Sukhinichi, Peremyshl and Meshchovsk districts and the Tula area. When you drive on the territory of Kozelsk at the entrance you can see the distinctive memorable sign reminding of the heroic past of our town.

Modern Kozelsk is a transport centre of area where there is a bus station and a railway station. Comfortable buses bring and take away passengers in different directions including Moscow and Voronezh.

Kozelsk is an industrial centre. The people of our town work at the Mechanical plant, the “Kozelsk milk”, at the plant of “Mineral Water Kozelsk, on the garment factory “Our mark”. All these enterprises produce goods of high quality which are great far outside area.

Modern Kozelsk is the centre of cultural life. Here there are two Houses of culture, the centre of creative work, the centre “Vozrozhdeniye”, the museum of local Lore and the tourist bureau. There are many children’s clubs of different directions, including sports work, in these cultural centers. The tourist bureau organizes excursions in different cities of our country and to monasteries of Deserts Opta and Shamordino and attracts tourists from all over the world.

The population consists from more than 20 thousand person. The percent of women is more than men. In the centre there is a board of honor with photos of the best workers. Our native land becomes better every year though it has a few constructions of the last century. We are proud of Kozelsk.
