St. Patrick’s Day: The 17th of March is known as St. Patrick’s Day. It is a religious holiday. St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. On this day people decorate their houses, streets and clothes with green shamrocks. And people wear something green too.
President’s Day: President’s Day is celebrated on the 3rd Monday in February. This holiday honours two American presidents: George Washington, the 1st President of the USA, and Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the USA. Both Presidents are famous for their honesty.
Independence Day: On July the 4th the United States celebrate Independence Day. It is called so because on that day in 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed. It proclaimed the independence of the 13 British colonies from Great Britain. This Day is marked with parades and fireworks.
Columbus Day: Columbus Day is marked on the second Monday in October. America was discovered by Christopher Columbus on the 12th of October in 1492. At that time many people in Europe thought that the world was flat and that, if a ship sailed to the edge of the world, it would fall off. But Christopher Columbus believed, the world was round and made the journey to America.
