It supports international agreements to protect wildlife and their habitats.  Hazardous wastes can also cause problems, since many developing counties do not cope properly with these waste.  The world’s tropical forests are gradually destroyed at a rapid rate. Deforestation can have a serious effect on the local and global environment.  It destroys habitats for forests species of plants and animals; and allows the topsoil to be eroded.  Timber is an important source of export earning for many developing countries, but it is important that their forests are managed in a sustainable way. Britain is therefore increasing the amount of support it gives to tropical forestry.
